As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, we want to take a moment to recognize and sincerely thank the incredible volunteers who make our ski and snowshoe trails possible. Their dedication is the reason so many people are able to enjoy these amazing community assets each year.
What many people see as a winter activity is truly a four season commitment. Our volunteers work year round installing culverts, brushing trails, clearing fallen trees, rerouting sections when necessary, and putting up signage to keep trails safe and welcoming. Then, when winter arrives, they are out in all kinds of weather regularly grooming the trails for everyone to enjoy.
This past winter was one of our most challenging, with copious amounts of snow, several near record snowfalls, and bitter cold temperatures. Yet through it all, our volunteer groomers kept showing up and doing the work. Their commitment, resilience, and passion for the outdoors never wavered.
Because of these volunteers, our trails see thousands of uses every year by residents and visitors enjoying healthy outdoor recreation in every season.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Rotary Club and Lions Club, whose generous donations helped ensure that ski and snowshoe trail use remained free of charge for all.
To every volunteer and supporter, thank you. Your time, effort, and generosity make a tremendous difference in our community, and during Volunteer Week we are especially proud to recognize all that you do.
