This past weekend, Queen's University celebrated its 100th Homecoming anniversary, with thousands of alumni and members of the Queen's University community returning to campus to mark the milestone.

Our member hotels buzzed with warm reunions and nostalgia as they welcomed returning classes, former staff, and celebrated members of the Tricolour Guard throughout the weekend.

KAP CEO Krista LeClair, attended Tourism Hill Days in Ottawa, a joint advocacy effort hosted by the Tourism Industry Association of Canada and Hotels Canada.

Day one featured a joint advocacy forum, “Tourism Builds Canada,” that brought industry leaders into conversation with parliamentarians and government officials about Canada’s tourism future.

On the second day, delegates had 14 meetings with government officials, ministerial offices, and parliamentarians on a wide range of topics and priorities. Asks were about “Unlocking Canada’s Tourism Potential” and included:

- Access to Labour
- Access to Capital
- Access to Canada

What could a more sustainable visitor economy look like?

On November 18, Sustainable Kingston is bringing together people from tourism, hospitality, food, transportation, and related sectors to explore the opportunities and challenges involved in building a more sustainable visitor economy.

The Summit will feature two concurrent sessions focused on food waste and sustainable travel.

🍽️ From Kitchen to Community: Building a More Sustainable Food System

Food sustainability is about more than what happens when food becomes waste. This session will explore how decisions around purchasing, menu planning, preparation, surplus food, redistribution, and organics can contribute to more sustainable food systems.

🚲 Travelling Sustainably

This session will explore how we can rethink the ways people travel to, from, and around destinations, and consider opportunities to make travel and transportation more sustainable, accessible, and enjoyable.

Both sessions will bring together people with experience across these areas to share practical ideas, explore challenges, and consider opportunities for collaboration.

We’re also looking to connect with people who have relevant knowledge, experience, resources, or expertise and may be interested in sharing their insights with attendees. If you have something you think could contribute to the conversation, we encourage you to fill out our Expert Form.
