Being a teen mom is a difficult and challenging job, especially if you are in your own. Why not get help and support from other who are in the same place? That's just one ingredint in what out program offers. She can't see the blessing - only the problem. She's pregnant, and her world has turned upside down. Panic, fear, anger and guilt are ricocheting through her. She had a "script" for her life
- but now it's hard to see anything but the challenges ahead. This young woman needs to hear that God's compassion and forgiveness will meet her at her point of need. Will his people reach out to her with the support and encouragement she so desperately needs? At teen mom we are committed to that and more! Teen moms a a mentoring progrom run by staff who are with Kingston Youth Unlimited. Kingston Youth Unlimited is a no-profit organization that reaches out to youth through varied programs such as The Fire Escape drop in center, Teen moms and other programs throughout the year. We care about teens, especially teens who may need support and help as they face the challenges of parenting today! If you are pregnant, or already have a child and are between the ages of 13 and 20, this program is designed specifically for you! The word 'Mentor' is just another word for a trusted friend or guide. The prupose of our mentors is to provide our girls with social, emotional, spiritual support and encouragement as they deal with the stresses of adolescent parethood. Each teen mom will be paired with a caring Christian woman who will be their mentor for one year. This is an opportunity to learn abut things that may make parenting easier. We offer prenatal, parenting and personal growth instruction, budgeting, fitness and health, nutrition, child development and much more. We have seasonal activities with your peers such as a Christmas Banquet, the Harvest Cafe, an Easter celebration, Crafts, and Retreats. There is free child care which we call the Kids Korner to give you a break from the demands of parenting while you attend the meetings. And something NEW that is being offered : Drop in every other Tuesday at Chocolate Church with Lisa. The childrean are welcome to come as well.
