Our Story

Loving Spoonful is deeply committed to working to creating a healthy, food-secure community in Kingston, Ontario, by facilitating fresh food access, skill development and community engagement.

Loving Spoonful teaches hundreds of primary school children every year about good food, collaboration and community in our school garden-based curriculum, the GROW Project. Hundreds of children, families and adults learn basic, healthy, affordable cooking in our Community Kitchens. We are happy to work with Kingston’s 39 community gardens through the Community Garden Network that Loving Spoonful convenes.

Working with great volunteers, we’ve delivered over $1,250,000 of fresh, healthy food to shelters, meal programs, pantries and our Fresh Food Market Stands since we started in 2008.

All of these programs also further other goals, including building community, increasing social inclusion, improving mental and physical health and teaching and advocating about our food system.
