Broadmind Mental Health We're mental health advocates that provides mental health first aid training. Let's break the stigma!

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. Just as physical first aid is administered to an injured person before medical treatment can be obtained, MHFA is given until appropriate treatment is found or until the crisis is resolved.

Ta-da! Look at some of the wonderful people we connected with today! 🙌

Broadmind spent the day at Kingston’s Transition Expo, and there was so much to talk about.

Thank you to the Canadian Armed Forces Transition Group for bringing together great organizations and services for serving members, veterans, and their families.

I loved chatting with the people providing support—and with those exploring their next steps, gathering ideas, learning about opportunities, and looking for skills to help them along the way.

We had some lovely conversations about Mental Health First Aid, supporting one another, and feeling more confident about what to notice, what to say, and what to do.

Big thanks to:
Team Rubicon Canada
Owned Charters
Atlas Institute for Veterans and Families
to Hardhats

Economic Development Corporation
Canadian Legion Branch 560
for Veterans Foundation
Addiction Treatment Centres

It was a pleasure spending time with you! To those I missed, I’m looking forward to connecting at next year’s expo. 💚

Apparently, I’ve brought my business-card “ta-da!” pose into real life. And clearly, these photos have not been doctored. Multiple chins, no neck… the new selfie! 😂 a really good day.

Join us at Broadmind on October 26 for Mental Health First Aid Essentials—a practical opportunity to learn what to notice, how to start a conversation, and how to offer support with more confidence.

Come for yourself, invite a colleague, or send an employee to experience the training. When we’re better prepared to recognize changes in how people feel, think, and act—and respond with care—we help create workplaces and communities where people feel supported.

Broadmind is turning 10! Look what we’ve been part of together. 💛

612 Mental Health First Aid courses delivered.
220 bespoke sessions designed around clients’ unique needs.
101 free sessions provided for clients.
1 Online course for leaders
over 1000 Self Care Stack journals shared

And so many conversations, connections, and moments of learning along the way.

Over these 10 years, we’ve worked with veteran and serving-member agencies, Crown organizations in different provinces, construction organizations across Canada, and community groups such as Kingston Community Health Centre.

We’ve supported learning with leaders, teams, and families. Contributed to Pepper Pod and Eggshells. Donated our time. Created journals, conversation tools, and resources people can take into their everyday lives.

From Mental Health First Aid to mental fitness, resilience, self-care, and navigating difficult conversations, we’ve learned a lot alongside you.

We’re so proud of this work. And there’s more we want to do.

More opportunities to practise. Skills to help manage anxiety. New ways of looking at old stories. Addressing burnout and making our work lives healthier. Showing up for each other a little better, one conversation at a time.

Thank you for being part of Broadmind’s first 10 years.

To celebrate, Sherry is going back to where it all began—and you’re invited!

This Mental Health Week, we’re keeping it simple:

We need each other.

Mental health isn’t built in big, perfect moments.
It’s built in the small stuff:

✔ checking in
✔ taking a breath
✔ going for a walk
✔ saying “I’m not okay”
✔ listening without fixing

It’s one step at a time.
With a whole lot of grace.

And it looks different for everyone—
but we’re all working with the same pieces:

Body. Nervous system. Emotions. Thoughts. Cponnections

You don’t have to do everything today. Overwhelm, no thank you.
Just take one small step.

And if you can—
cheer someone else on, too. xo

💚 Quick update + we want your input 💚

Our free Self-Health Care Check-In sessions have always been about real conversations — what’s hard, what’s helping, and what tools people actually need.

We’ve been listening, and we’re hearing a clear theme:
👉 more mental fitness + resilience tools.

So we’re taking a short hiatus for February and March, and we’ll be back in April with something stronger and more practical.

Before we rebuild, we want to hear from you.

We’ve put together a very quick poll to help shape what a free monthly session should look like — something that makes you want to show up and feel better leaving.

Thank you for helping us build support that fits real life.

So glad to see this from Opening Minds. 💚

There’s a real momentum right now — and 2026 truly feels like the year for building mental health skills in workplaces and communities.

At Broadmind, we truly love supporting this work and are grateful to be included in these conversations. These skills matter, the delivery matters, and access matters.

As teams begin planning, we’re happy to share that our pricing is competitive and our facilitators are exceptional — experienced, engaging, and located across the country. We deliver Mental Health First Aid, The Working Mind, and resilience-focused discussions for teams who care about doing this well.

Always grateful to be part of this work, and always happy to support organizations taking the next step.

🎉 Happy New Year! Consider this a little MHFA gift to kick off 2026. 🎁

If you completed Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Basic or MHFA Standard in the past couple of years, there’s now a Bridge to Certification option that may allow you to become MHFA Certified without taking the full 2-day course again.

✨ What is the Bridge to Certification?

It’s a self-paced online course designed to bridge the gap between MHFA Basic/Standard and the full Certification. It covers key content and assessment areas that weren’t explored in depth in earlier versions.

✅ Who’s eligible?

Anyone who took MHFA Basic or Standard between January 1, 2023 and December 10, 2025.

Cost:

$50 if you took Basic or Standard between Jan 1, 2023 and June 11, 2025

Free if you took the course between June 12, 2025 and Dec 10, 2025

⏰ Important deadline:

The Bridge course sunsets on March 31, 2026.

After that date, certification will require the full 2-day MHFA Certification course.

🔍 How do you check if you qualify?

Use the same email address you used for your original MHFA course and check here:

If you’re eligible, the link will take you straight to registration (and payment, if required).

💬 Questions?

Please drop them in the comments below — chances are others are wondering the same thing, and I’m happy to answer publicly so everyone benefits.

A great way to build on the training you’ve already done and start the year with something meaningful.

Choose Joy. Repeat Often.

The holidays can be beautiful… and a little overwhelming — especially if you’re the one holding it all together for others.

At Broadmind, we’re leaning into:
✨ less reactivity
✨ more self-awareness
✨ leadership that starts from the inside out

You don’t need to carry everyone’s emotions to be a good leader, manager, teammate, parent, friend...person.
But your calm, your clarity, and your kindness matter more than you think.

Some days we nail it.
Some days we repair and try again.
That is the work.

If you’re feeling called to slow down, reset, or rethink how you show up for others, we’re here — quietly supporting humans who support humans.

Joy to you. xo
