Dogs are always welcome at any of Cataraqui Conservation’s properties, including the Cataraqui Trail.

But we ask that your four-legged canine family member be on a leash and remain on the marked trails during their visit.

This is for the safety and consideration for other visitors and the wildlife that lives in the area near trails on the properties. Free-running dogs can be intimidating to other visitors and can also chase and disturb wildlife.

The significance of the summer solstice has varied among cultures, but most recognize the event in some way with holidays, festivals, and rituals around that time with themes of fertility.

Interestingly, the summer solstice was seen as the middle of summer in Anglo-Saxon England and called 'midsummer.’ A fella named Shakespeare wrote a play about it!

To help mark this astronomically and culturally significant time, Cataraqui Conservation Senior Educator, and registered Forest Therapy Guide, Stana Luxford-Oddie will lead participants in a compelling and restorative forest therapy experience to celebrate.

The walk will take place on Thursday, June 18, from 7 to 8:30 a.m. at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area, located on Perth Road (Division Street) just north of Highway 401 in Kingston. The cost is $22 per person and registration is required.
