Heartfelt gratitude to Kingston's Poet Laureate Sadiqa de Meijer and to Max Montalvo for this film of a poem, this moving geopoetry. Sadiqa writes:
"I wrote 'The Oak On River Street (Not An Elegy)' interwoven with lines from W.H. Auden's 'In Praise of Limestone'. Max Montalvo found a breathtaking visual language for the words. This is our love song to the oak, and to the land along the Cataraqui River that the Mohawks call the Ribbon of Life. The poem is 201 lines long, to signify the age of the tree. The film's length is less than one millionth of the tree's life so far."
