Our vision is a world where true equity is realised for all. The Western Area Women’s Coalition is dedicated to improving the well-being
and economic status of women in the Western Area. The Western Area Women’s Coalition is an equality-seeking organization that provides governance to the Women’s Place Resource Centre. Women’s Centres grew out of the initiative of women to address gender-based ine

quality and gaps in service, as well as to provide women-centered services in the community. The Women’s Place Resource Centre offer programs, support and services to all aspects of women’s lives and although we are not a shelter we offer a safe space where all women can come to chat, browse, or participate in any program that is taking place. As well, we partner with organizations within our communities to promote community development that will result in improved service for women. All our services are free of charge. We are women with the goal of improving the lives of women. We work from a Feminist Perspective and believe in confidentiality and non-judgement for all who use the centre and the services provided here.

No two days are the same as a Community Resource Navigator.

One day might start with someone looking for a food bank, and quickly unfold into a conversation about rent, utilities, and staying safe at home. Another day, it’s helping someone piece together options during a major life change or moment of crisis.

Every contact is different, but one thing stays the same, people are often navigating more than one challenge at once.

It’s a reminder that behind every question is a story, and no situation fits neatly into a single box.

June is National Indigenous History Month. This month is a time to recognize, celebrate, reflect and learn about the rich histories, cultures and resilience of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

In Nova Scotia, June marks an important milestone: the 300th anniversary of the 1726 Peace and Friendship Treaties. Build on mutual respect and peaceful co-existence, these living treaties continue to shape our province today.

There cannot be reconciliation without truth. Reconciliation begins with listening and respecting Indigenous voices. Taking time to understand our collective past, our intertwined histories, and collaboration throughout our communities. We continue to learn and grow, shaping our province for a better tomorrow. We are all Treaty people.
