🎉 A huge thank you to the Selkirk Grade 10 Careers Class for raising $311 through their bottle drive in support of the Spark Youth Centre!

This generous donation will directly support Spark’s free after-school drop-in program, helping us create a barrier-free space where all young people can feel safe, respected and included.

We are incredibly grateful for your hard work, community spirit, and commitment to making a difference. 💙

This week marks one year since Spark reopened its doors. During that time, we have had the privilege of supporting 305 youth, who have collectively given back an incredible 555 volunteer hours to our community. We are so proud of these young people and the positive impact they continue to make.

What a FUN night and a fantastic example of community collaboration!

After enjoying pizza and treats from the Healthy Kimberley Food Recovery Depot, we fired up the popcorn maker 🍿 at Spark and strolled over to C64 for a movie🎥

A special thank-you to Flix@C64 for generously donating the popcorn maker to Spark. This gift was made possible through donations Flix received from the Rotary Club and Kootenay Savings—showing how community support continues to create opportunities to connect, learn, and have fun.

We're grateful to all the organizations, volunteers, and community members who helped make the evening such a success. Nights like these remind us how much can happen when local groups work together toward a shared goal, supporting youth in our community🥰

🚨 WE NEED YOUR HELP 🚨
One year ago this week, Spark Society for Youth reopened its doors. Since then, hundreds of local young people have found a safe place to belong, connect, and grow.
In the past year alone, Spark has welcomed:
✨ 225 registered youth members
✨ 2,605 youth drop-in visits and 346 youth school visits
✨ 284 local youth in our community who contributed 535 volunteer hours back to their community
Every day, youth come through our doors for support, friendship, food, activities, and a place where they feel safe, respected, and included.
But we can't do it alone.
As a non-profit organization offering free programs for local youth, we depend on grants and community donations to keep our doors open. Right now, we urgently need community support to continue providing these essential services.
Every dollar donated stays right here in Kimberley and goes directly toward food, resources, supplies, and programming for local youth.
Without community support, the future of these programs is at risk.

What a wonderful afternoon at the Sparks Intergenerational Tea! 🙂🫖🍪

We’re all excited to try the tea made from herbs harvested from the community garden.

A big thank you to Wildsight for inspiring Kimberley’s youth! They had a fantastic time visiting the garden and learning about dehydrating herbs during the social. They learned so much, enjoyed the hands-on experience, and are excited to taste the tea they helped create.

Spark Society is excited for the completion of the next stage of our energy efficiency upgrades, helping us create a barrier-free space where all young people can feel safe, respected and included! 🙂Thanks to support from LX Electrical, BC Hydro and the Columbia Basin Trust Smart Grant for the needed Electrical upgrade to the Spark Society building, part of the larger Retrofit taking place this summer.
