TRAILS UPDATE

But First...Come out to our Volunteer Work Party this Saturday! i.e. TODAY!
..Or, hey, if digging in the dirt isn’t your vibe, feel free to just sit back, sip your coffee, and live vicariously through update from the KTS Trail Crew and our rockstar volunteers.

Here is what we crushed this week:

Nordic Center Makeover: The crew spent serious time shaping and updating the terrain. Thanks to some rare, late-season moisture, the dirt was absolutely perfect for sculpting.

Selkirk Students hit Lois Creek: We hosted a wonderful group of students from Selkirk Secondary for a day of trail work in Lois Creek. The future of our trails is in great hands.

The Army Road Monster: The trees kept falling this week. Just look at the photos to see the HUGE mess on Army Road that the crew successfully wrestled and cleared. Along with many more around the network.

BC Wildfire Service Assist: A massive shout-out to the BC Wildfire Service for supporting our projects by clearing out dangerous hazard trees and opening up corridors around the network.

RTM Update

Good news! The modified route will be open this weekend!

While construction crews are off the clock, you are clear to head out and enjoy the trail over the weekend. Please remember to follow the detour (via LodgeFace, Ridgeway, and Shooter) and move swiftly and safely through the work zone. Obey any other signage, watch for hazards.

There have been a few storms since we cleared it. Please post downed tree updates to Trail Forks with a location so we know where to go.

Have a great weekend out there!

RoundTheMountain Course Modifications & Safety Notice

HEADS UP! There are some major route changes you need to know about due to the construction of the new Tamarack Chair.

Here is everything you need to know to navigate the trail safely:

The New Route Details:
Because the main parking lot is currently being used as a construction laydown area, a new detour is in place:
• The Start: The new route utilizes the LodgeFace/Blueberry cat track to bypass the parking lot.
• The First Climb: At the top of the first climb, head left on Ridgeway toward the Easter Chair.
• The Detour: Do not go all the way to the Easter Chair. Immediately after passing the Tamarack Chair, turn onto the Shooter cat track.
• The Return: Stay on Shooter until it brings you right back to the original RoundTheMountain route at Tramway.

There are some signs along the way.

Crucial Safety & Access Info:

Please remember that this is an active work site.
• Not Open 24/7: The trail will NOT be open all the time.
• Hazards: There is heavy machinery, active construction, and potential debris in the area.
• When can you use it? is committed to opening the trail whenever it is safe to do so. This means access will primarily be during hours when crews are not working and the area is clear of hazards. More information to come on how to know when it's open.
• Be Quick & Alert: When the trail is open, please stay alert, prioritize safety, and move swiftly through the construction zone.

The Good News!
A massive shoutout to the incredible trail crew, the Trails GM, and our amazing community volunteers—the full route around has been completely cleared of all fallen trees! It’s looking fantastic and ready for you once the coast is clear.
Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and for helping us keep everyone safe this season. Share this with your running, hiking, and riding buddies!

Pinch & Roll 3 got a facelift!
A group of 20 volunteers showed up to do some spring cleaning on Sunday morning, and sooooo much got done 😍
-
✅ The entrance is wider and has a new feature just to the right, a little side hit jump that's super fun. test rode it for us and it worked first try. Thanks for the build and vision!
✅ The "rut" has been widen back into a trail, free of rolling rocks and debris, the wide speed trap alley into the marble corner is now safer, has more support with a brand new berm, thanks & your crew for this one, everyone is gonna love it!
✅ The wet spot has 2 new drainages, first drainage was done by 5 year olds, in total autonomy: we told them what to do, they did it, we didn't have to touch it up!? 😲🙏 Cutest little helpers
✅ The next unsupported berm has been strenghten and is taller, free of rocks, which will make confidence a little higher than in the past
✅ The hip jump now has a landing, and you can judge how big / how much progression you want to do there, fun times!
✅ The rest of the trail was fully raked and touched up

3 riders tested the fresh upgrades after the work party, and they said it was 👌💵. Good job everyone and thanks for leading this one 🙏.

Trail Crew Update

The crew kept the momentum rolling this week, tackling everything from routine tune-ups to some absolute tree-pocalypses. Here is a breakdown of what’s freshly cleared and ready for your weekend adventures:

🌲 The Weekly Wrap-Up:

Nordic Center: Handled a handful of minor maintenance projects around the network to keep things running smoothly.

Moe’s Hiking Trail: "One Moe Step" got a thorough once-over after last year's build.

Bootleg: We got out to Snow White and the Seven Wasps and gave it some much-needed clearing.

Musser’s Plateau: We took on a monster task from the top of the ski hill, clearing over 100 downed trees off the trail. It's beautiful up there right now.

Moe’s Canyon & Misdirection: Shoutout to Tom, who was back at it solo, clearing out deadfall through the canyon and along Misdirection (the original Magic Line 3 Climb).

🏃Connect the Dots
With all these networks freshly opened up, they chain together perfectly to create some top-tier running and hiking loops.

If you're looking to get out this weekend, we highly recommend checking out this awesome loop:

🌲 TRAIL CREW UPDATE 🌲

Here is what your KTS Trail Crew and an incredible army of volunteers have been up to this past week:

🔨 Rainbow Rock Rodeo
Work continued on Rainbow Rock Rodeo, and honestly... just look at those berms! 😍 The team has been sculpting absolute perfection. Get ready for some seriously sweet flow.

🪚 The Great Blowdown Clear-Out
Collectively, the crew and some super-dedicated volunteers put in over 60 hours clearing downed trees. If you see these folks out there, buy them a fizzy drink! Massive shoutout to everyone who helped clear the decks on:

Army Road

Bear

Hertz So Good

Shannon

Bullfrog Hill

Creek

Flume

Purple People Pleaser

Unicorn Hunting

Snow White and the Seven Wasps

⚠️ Trails to Avoid (For Now!)
We know you're eager, but a few zones still need a little more time to wake up from winter. We highly recommend waiting on:

Higher/Further Trails: Anything up top, including Musser’s Plateau and Round the Mountain, is still a no-go.

Magic Line 3 (The Prestige): The lower sections are still working through their seasonal weeping. Let's give the mud a chance to dry out so we don't rut it up!

Thank you again to our amazing volunteers for sweating it out for the community.
