Grantee Spotlight: Monitoring the Health of Lazy Lake 💙
This is the kind of impact that happens when our community gives locally.
A $2,002 grant supported through the Kimberley & District Community Foundation and the BC Lake Stewardship Society helped the Lazy Lake Environment Association enhance its water monitoring efforts with support for the purchase of a new dissolved oxygen meter.
Recently, volunteers headed out onto the lake to begin seasonal testing - collecting important water quality data including turbidity, dissolved oxygen, and temperature readings throughout the water column. This information is shared with scientists and contributes to peer-reviewed environmental reports that help guide future decision-making and stewardship efforts.
Even better? This project brought multiple generations together on the lake for a day of learning, science, and appreciation for our natural environment. 🌲🚤
The new equipment is helping the Association collect valuable data that will support the stewardship and health of Lazy Lake for years to come.
Projects like this are made possible through partnerships, dedicated volunteers, and the generosity of local donors.
