The Burial Grounds Care Society was created on August 27, 2001 at a meeting in the living room of one of our charter members. That original get-together and all subsequent meetings have led to a list of accomplishments by the society that if nothing else shows how dedicated and active we have been in the years since our existence. We agreed on a set of principles and goals for our society that wer
e adopted and that have been adhered to ever since. The purpose of the society is to research, locate and reclaim abandoned and neglected graveyards in Kings County and give them the care and recognition that they deserve. Some of these burial sites have been found in cattle pastures and woods. A lot of members became interested during their own research into their ancestry and trying to find the final resting places of their own family members.
