Community INC - Nova Scotia Works, Kentville

Community INC - Nova Scotia Works, Kentville Nova Scotia Works offers employment related services to Nova Scotian job seekers and employers.

The Community Inclusion Society ("Community INC.") was formed in 2008 from what was formerly known as the the Valley Disability Partnership Society (VDPS, incorporated March 2001). We are a non-profit community based charitable organization working within our communities to promote inclusion of persons with disabilities. Our transition from Valley Disability to Community INC reflects the larger c

ultural changes which are underlined, for example, by the recent (May 2008) international ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. We do not subscribe to the notion that the barriers to inclusion a person with disabilities may face are inherent in that person. Rather than requiring persons with disabilities to fit into existing frameworks, Community INC starts from the experiences of the individual and challenges society – for it's own good – to provide a meaningful place for everyone. We strive to, as our Vision statement attests, create a world where equality is assumed, not earned, and full citizenship is a right and not a privilege.
