Staff from Kensington North Watersheds, alongside the South Shore Watershed Association, Forests, Fish and Wildlife, and the PEI Watershed Alliance, welcomed Grade 6 students from Queen Elizabeth Elementary School for a day of hands-on environmental learning.

Students participated in a variety of activities, including pond life exploration, fishing rod casting, tree bocce, nature frames, water filtration, learning about bats, and viewing animal mounts.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to the South Shore Watershed Association, Forests, Fish and Wildlife, and the PEI Watershed Alliance for attending and helping make the day a success. Your support and expertise helped create a fun and educational
experience for all involved!

We are teaming up with the PEI Rural Beautification Society to host our first Picnic and Plant - Native Gardening Workshop. This event is open to the public, but registration is required and spaces are limited, so don’t wait to sign up!

Participants will learn how to incorporate native plant species, attract pollinators to both flower and vegetable gardens, and tips to maintain a healthy garden without chemicals. We will also provide details on the Rural Beautification Society’s new competition “Native Planting and Biodiversity”.

A light lunch will be provided as well as free native wildflower seeds and the chance to win a rain barrel!

This event is funded by the PEI Wildlife Conservation Fund, which provides financial support to groups across PEI working to benefit wildlife and wildlife conservation. If you would like to support more projects like this, consider purchasing a conservation license plate!

FUNDRAISER ALERT!

This spring, we are partnering with rainbarrel.ca to bring rain barrels to the Kensington area. The drought last year made for a difficult growing season, with many gardens turning into a dry, crispy mess. Don’t get caught off guard this year- install a rain barrel and keep your garden thriving through those hot, dry summer months.

Orders can be placed at the link below with a portion of the sales benefiting the Kensington North Watersheds Association. This is a great way to support your local watershed while participating in water conservation efforts this summer!
