We need your help.

The numbers we’re seeing at our food bank tell a difficult story about how much the need in our community has grown.

In August 2025, we provided food for 60 people.

This August, we’ve provided food for 437 people.

That’s more than 7 times as many people in just one year — an increase of 628%.

We’re doing everything we can to keep up, but we can’t do it alone.

If you’re in a position to help, please consider making a financial donation to our food bank. Even a small donation helps us purchase the food we need to keep our shelves stocked and continue supporting the growing number of people coming through our doors.

And when you donate to us, your donation stays local. Your support goes directly toward helping people right here in our community.

In this role, you’ll help support the day-to-day operations of our Food Bank, including assisting clients, receiving and organizing donations, preparing food hampers, maintaining a clean and welcoming space, and helping ensure our neighbours receive the support they need with dignity and respect.

We’re looking for someone who is:
• Friendly, compassionate, and dependable
• Comfortable working with people from all walks of life
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Organized and willing to help wherever needed

The Salvation Army in Kenora is honoured to be among the recipients that will share in over half a million dollars courtesy of the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation. It was incredible to be in a room with so many likeminded community builders at the granting ceremony last week. We will be using the funds to upgrade our building to meet Food Banks Canada standards of excellence to ensure people who rely on the food bank get safely handled, nutritious food and to restock the food bank’s shelves which run dangerously low in the summer months. It’s OK to have a picnic instead of eating out at a restaurant.

It’s OK to accept support when it’s offered.
