Don Tamaki as KBC President is a "junior" at 12 years. This is his mugo pine with the gnarly base that he's been developing for 3 seasons. The gnarl was a pleasant surprise when he first unpotted it. The mission now is to keep it alive for the next 30 years!

Martin Vincze serves at KBC Sensei, active in the club since the '90's. Here he is showing a few of his babies. The Blue Spruce is young (50) as compared to the beautiful boxwood at 80ish. The ficus (10) is an indoor option.

Sam Kahrmann is Penticton's most senior member at 89. He's been at this "hobby" about 35 years. Here he is with his Hinoki Cypress that he estimates at 45 years old. He originally "hacked" it down from 6 feet, then when the upper trunk died he just incorporated into his design. Beautiful!!

Dan Mueksch is a founding member of the Penticton Club. One of his favorites is this 50ish year old Linden tree that he rescued from the dump in 1990. It had no leaves but a few buds so he thought he'd give it a shot at a second chance. Great job Dan!

Jim Peterson, Canada's only recipient of the Bonsai Angel Wings shows his 12 year Japanese Maple. Jim raised this tree from a seedling rescued from his neighborhood's yard. Jim is a life member who has an extensive personal collection. He said he only brought the "junk" he could carry to the show.🤣 Nice job Jim!!
