The Annual General Meeting is coming soon for the Pandosy Neighbourhood Association. This Wednesday to be precise.

There will be thoughful discussions, presentations from FireSmart and CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design).

We encourage all members to attend, but whether you are an active member or not, we would love to see you out. Tell your neighbours and come out for evening of supporting your community.

Coming soon! 🤚📣🗣

We're about a week away.

Have you been to the Image Pandosy Art Festival in the past? Did you sell some treasures at the Parade of Garage Sales? Maybe answered some thought provoking questions at Trivia Night? Or maybe had a delicious smash burger at the Neighbourhood BBQ? If you answered yes to any of these and would like to see events like this continue in the future, please come to our Annual General Meeting (AGM) next Wednesday.

Presented at councils Monday meeting was the new fitness Centre the city has partnered with Okanagan College to build and manage. Great to have in the heart of Pandosy and opening in December.

AGM coming soon 🤚🗣📣

As an association, part of what we do is advocate for our residents. Through surveys, online feedback, face to face monthly meetings and just generally connecting with the neighbourhood, we gather everyones ideas to use to make our community a place where everyone wants to reside.

We are proud to recite that in the mid 2010’s our association gathered a diverse group of residents to advocate for Pandosy Waterfront Park's creation because of the dilapidated home the city had purchased with Parks funding and kept as rental for at least 20 years. Our city said it did not have funds to build a park because DCCs (Development Cost Charges) on developments were for road infrastructure not parks.

Subsequent to our advocacy, the city quietly initiated a ‘Parks DCC’. Of course not a favoured item by the development industry but producing the rapid creation of parks in Kelowna (DeHart, Pandosy, Ben Lee, Aurora, Glenmore, Burne and Truswell). City park changes including the new swim feature that was unveiled last Sunday.

It was our PNA (Pandosy Neighbourhood Association) that gathered other neighbourhood associations together to advocate for the city to provide funding for NAs (Neighhbourhood Associations) to exist. This advocacy resulted in the Neighbourhood Association Affiliation Agreement of 2023 confirmed by our most recent council and existing under the umbrella of the Strong Neighbourhoods division of city.

Our association has created events for all residents to enjoy starting with “Winter Warm Up”, then “Parade of Garage Sales”, “Casual Thursday for Business”, “Neighbourhood BBQ”, “Movie in the Park” and “Meet the Candidates”. Our Imagine Pandosy Festival has paused this year but hopes to return in 2027.

Next up is our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 14 at Raymer School with guest presentations from FireSmart and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design. This is a chance for our 500+ members to come together to choose the next Association Board who will drive our work forward.

Who likes cookies? 🍪🍪🍪👧

I guess the better question is "who doesn't like cookies?" 😆

It's Girl Guide Cookie season! Youth members are out in the Pandosy Neighbourhood doing door-to-door sales. Keep your eyes open at our local grocery stores as well over the coming weeks to get your cookies! You can also always find some at Once Upon a Bookstore if you miss them at your door or in front of stores.

So if you see these groups of yougins at your door, help support a good cause for their fundraising and get yourself some yummy chocolate/vanilla cookies.

What's going on in the neighbourhood 🏡🌊

The Kelowna Paddle Centre has signed a lease with a new building. Everyone is invited to go visit them at their open house on Saturday Sept 26 from 2-4:00pm. Head on down to see what the future of paddling looks like.

AGM coming soon 😀🗣🤚

With the upcoming Annual General Meeting, here's a bit of history about us.
The Pandosy Neighbourhood Association PNA (previously KLO Neighbourhood Assn) has been successful as a grass roots citizen organization to ensure all of the lakefront properties bought by the city for parkland in Pandosy became what everyone enjoys now as Pandosy Waterfront Park.

As an association we are proud to recite that in the mid 2010’s our association gathered a diverse group of residents to advocate for this park creation because of the dilapidated home the city had purchased with Parks funding and kept as rental for at least 20 years. As the years move on we will continue to advocate for changes and ideas that we hear from local residents on how the parks can be better utilized.

On Thursday night we used this new (opened in 2022) park for our ‘Meet the Candidates’ event.

Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at Raymer School with guest presentations from FireSmart and Crime Prevention through Environmental Design. This is a chance for our 500+ members to come together to choose the next Association Board who will drive our work forward.

More Trivia ⁉❓🧐

Do you have a bike? Do you like trivia? If so the Kelowna Cycling Coalition is hosting a trivia night at Kinsmen Park this Wednesday. Peddle up, throw down a blanket, enjoy some light refreshments, prizes and trivia for an evening of mind tickling questions. Sponsored in part by the City of Kelowna. Prizes donated from Kelowna Cycle.

We came and we talked 💬🗣🌳

We couldn't have asked for a better night to hold this event. 27 candidates for the municipal election came out last night to Pandosy Waterfront Park for the Pandosy Neighbourhood Association (PNA) Speed Meet the Candidate event. Many conversations were had and residents had a chance to become more familiar with positions held by potential counselors.
