āš ļø CATE UPDATE āš ļø

Our sweet rock art friend, Cate the Caterpillar, has officially been confiscated by the Park Police (aka the Regional District of the Okanagan). Turns out Mill Creek has a strict ā€œleave no traceā€ rule—who knew Cate was such a rebel? šŸ˜‰

She’s currently doing time in Caterpillar Jail, but don’t worry—we’re working hard to find her a new, suitable forever home. More details to come soon… stay tuned!

P.S. If you know of any locations that might be a good fit for Cate, please reach out or drop your suggestions below!

She’s already grown quite a bit thanks to all the amazing rocks that have been added. We love seeing the creativity and color everyone’s bringing to the trail! You’ll spot her just off the main path at Mill Creek Regional Park, shortly after the bridge crossing. Keep your eyes open! šŸ‘€ Want to join in? ā¤µļø Bring a painted rock, add it to the line, and help Cate keep growing—one rock at a time. And don’t forget to tag us in your photos and videos! šŸ“ø

Need a little help finding Cate? šŸ‘€šŸ›

Here’s a wider look to give you a few more clues! Cate the Caterpillar is tucked just off the main trail at Mill Creek Regional Park—right after you cross the bridge on the way to the waterfalls.

Keep your eyes open for a colorful line of painted rocks peeking out from the forest floor. That’s her!

Bring along a painted rock to add to the trail and help her grow—and don’t forget to tag us when you find her!

We love seeing your photos and all the creative designs you’ve come up with. 🤩

Sealing in the magic! šŸ’«

A quick clear coat helps protect these painted rocks from the weather—so Cate the Caterpillar can stay bright and cheerful no matter the season! 😁

Whether you’re using paint pens, acrylics, or markers, adding a weatherproof seal helps your designs last longer on the trail. Just make sure your rocks are dry before placing them!

Cate’s hanging out just past the first bridge at Mill Creek—so be sure to stop by and say ā€œHiā€ on your next hike through the park! šŸ‘‹šŸ¼

Meet Cate the Caterpillar’s good friend—Jake the Snake! šŸ

Cate was inspired by the incredible Jake the Snake rock project at Jack Seaton Park. If you’ve seen him, you know how magical a simple line of painted rocks can become when a whole community joins in. šŸ¤

We loved the idea so much, we started our own version right here in Mill Creek Regional Park—just past the bridge crossing before the waterfalls. Cate’s still small, but with your help, she’ll keep growing and winding her way through the forest!

Want to be part of it? 🄳

Paint a rock, bring it on your next walk, and add it to the line! Every rock helps her stretch a little farther. 🌈

Rock painting in progress! šŸŽØšŸ–Œļø

These creative kiddos have been hard at work adding color, patterns, and personality to new rocks for Cate the Caterpillar. Watching everyone get involved—big kids, little kids, and even a few grown-ups—has been the best part of this project so far.

Community art at its cutest. 🄰

Keep those rocks coming! Cate lives on the main trail just past the bridge at Mill Creek Regional Park, and she’s always ready to welcome new friends.

One of our favorite ways to paint rocks? Acrylic paint pens! šŸŽØ

Easy to use, mess-free(ish), and great for adding fun details—my daughter loves using them to bring her rock designs to life.

It’s such a fun way to get creative before heading out to visit Cate the Caterpillar at Mill Creek. šŸ›
