We’re taking a moment to recognize the people who make our work possible, our volunteers.

Your time, energy, and commitment don’t go unnoticed. Whether you’re behind the scenes or showing up on the front lines, you play a real role in the impact we’re able to create at OCCA.

In National Volunteer week we acknowledge that volunteerism isn’t just support, it’s the backbone of the work. It allows us to reach more people, respond to real needs, and continue showing up for our community in meaningful ways.

Thank you for choosing to give your time and care so generously. We appreciate you. 💛

🙏The Okanagan Filipino-Canadian Society (OFCS) is hosting a vigil this evening to mark the first anniversary of the Lapu-Lapu incident.

It will take place on April 26 at 6:00 PM at Ben Lee Park.

Join us for a heartfelt gathering of prayer, reflection, and remembrance as our community comes together in unity. All are warmly welcome to attend and stand in solidarity.

One year ago, 11 people were killed and dozens were injured in a horrific vehicle attack at the Lapu-Lapu Day festival in Vancouver. This tragedy left a profound void in the hearts of families, loved ones, and Filipino communities across Canada and the world.

Canadians stood with the people of Vancouver as they grieved. Today, we stand with them once more as they honour the victims, their memories, and the strength of the survivors.

Join us in honouring tradition and remembrance at the Qing Ming Ceremony at Kelowna Memorial Park, this Sunday, April 26th at 11 AM, hosted by the Chinese Freemasons.

Qing Ming, also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day, is a deeply meaningful tradition across many Asian cultures, a time to honor ancestors, care for their resting places, and reflect on the connections between past and present. It’s about respect, gratitude, and keeping history and family legacy alive.

Continuing to recognize Qing Ming matters. It keeps cultural traditions visible, creates space for intergenerational connection, and reminds us that community is built on remembering where we come from.

It's an honour to sponsor this event along with Dragon King金源, City of Kelowna, Sun Life, and Kelowna Dragon Spirit Tai Chi Association for supporting this important gathering.

This ceremony is part of our broader Asian Heritage Month celebration. Stay tuned for more events.
