Okanagan Festival Singers

Okanagan Festival Singers Under the direction of Norene Morrow, the Okanagan Festival Singers.

The Okanagan Festival Singers' Mission is to provide opportunities in Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley for the performance, appreciation and enjoyment of choral music. We will promote, organize and encourage choral music through performance of choral works and in the presentation of choral concerts, bringing the experience of great choral music to the Okanagan. Under the direction and guidance of L

eroy Wiens, the OFS has developed into one of the foremost choral ensembles in the BC Interior. They have created their own unique place in the hearts of Okanagan audiences with their baroque performances of Handel’s Messiah. The OFS repertoire includes large classical works, such as Handel’s Messiah, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Bach’s Mass in B Minor, and Haydn’s Creation, to name but a few. The choir also performs many a ca****la pieces, music by Canadian composers, and musical works from the 14th to the 21st Centuries. In the fall of 2015, OFS presented a Children's Messiah complete with puppets and opportunities to sing along, which was very well received. For the past several years, the OFS has participated in regional choral festivals and community events. OFS has shared the stage with other choirs, such as the Amabilis Singers from Vancouver, the Yume Women's Choir from Japan, and Serious Options of Kamloops.

OKANAGAN FESTIVAL SINGERS

DEBORAH HARRISON – SOPRANO

Since her retirement from medical social work Deborah has enjoyed having the time to make music everything that she has always wanted it to be in her life. She has sung in choirs and ensembles since her teenage years and is thrilled to be a member of the Okanagan Festival Singers. The challenges of singing major classical works are her particular favourites. She has also enjoyed the opportunity to perform as a chorus member in Opera Kelowna’s main stage productions for the last two seasons.

ELISE SCOTT - ALTO
Elise joined OFS in January. She enjoys singing classical music and especially loves the beautiful harmonies. For this concert she has particularly enjoyed rehearsing Samuel Barber’s Agnus Dei, a hauntingly beautiful piece that is a vocal version his Adagio for strings, which has been used in many films. Elise is also a flautist and outside choir she loves reading, golfing, tennis and going for walks with her little tripod, Sadie.
