VOTE COMING UP: Protect people’s lives

If Parliament doesn’t act before March 2027, Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) will become available to people whose sole underlying condition is a mental illness.

Contact your MP today and ask them to take action:

1️⃣ Ask your MP to vote YES on Bill C-218 — the Right to Recover Act.

The bill is expected to come to a vote on October 7. Ask your MP to support Bill C-218 and send it to committee so Parliament can move forward with permanently stopping the expansion of MAiD to people whose sole underlying condition is a mental illness.

2️⃣ Ask your MP to contact Justice Minister Fraser and urge the government to introduce legislation implementing the June 2026 recommendation of the Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying.

Inclusion Canada testified before the Special Joint Committee last April. We have also joined more than 90 disability and mental health organizations in calling on the Prime Minister and Parliamentarians to prevent the expansion of MAiD to people whose sole underlying condition is a mental illness.

Focusing on robust health and social resources ensures that individuals receive the care they need during difficult times.
