It's time to innovate.

COFB is serving 12,000 clients each month while an estimated 2 million of pounds of viable food ends up as food waste each year in the Central Okanagan.

Our Food Rescue Transformation Centre will bridge this gap between hunger and abundance. Designed to recover surplus food, support local producers, and distribute more nutritious food to our community in need.

Together, we can build a stronger, more sustainable food system for our region.

Last Saturday we had the privilege of being at the Hungry Hungry Half Marathon as they marked their 11th year of supporting COFB through their half marathon, 10K, 5K, and kids’ 1K fun run. The day was filled with support, positivity, and the incredible energy of people coming together!

We are so grateful to everyone who participated, sponsored, volunteered, and helped bring the event to life. Thank you for showing up, cheering each other on, and helping make a meaningful difference for our community. 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️💛

Meet Georgiann – Kelowna Marketplace volunteer since December 2024!
She found COFB through a Castanet volunteer ad, and the rest is history.

Georgiann appreciates how supportive and welcoming COFB staff are, helping volunteers stay informed and confident. She’s also happy to see how clients are enjoying the new partial choice model in the market.

Something interesting about Georgiann: she and her husband once lived in the Yukon in a log cabin they built themselves! Thank you, Georgiann, for dedicating your time to supporting COFB 💛

With Mother’s Day coming up, we want to recognize the hard work that goes into raising children, and the challenges some new parents may face when it comes to food or financial insecurity.

Our Tiny Bundles program supports pregnant clients and families with children under the age of 1 with additional supplemental food between hampers, and other essential items such as diapers and formula. This program helps ensure that every baby gets the healthy start they deserve.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the wonderful moms out there! 🌸🍼💛

Meet Megan – our Programs Coordinator.
Megan was inspired to join COFB by the idea of creating real change through her work. She finds working at COFB especially rewarding with the impact of our Food for Thought program – watching 40 volunteers come together every Monday to help provide 1,600 students with meals each week truly warms her heart.

Megan loves advocating that COFB offers much more than food, including workshops for clients on financial literacy, cooking skills, nutrition education and mental health support.

Fun fact: Megan previously owned and operated a vegan restaurant in Calgary for 10 years! 🍃
