Today, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation 2025, marks the tenth anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation of Canada’s Final Report and 94 Calls to Action.
We take time today to thoughtfully acknowledge the deep pain and lasting trauma experienced by Métis, First Nation, and Inuit communities across Canada.
The history of residential schools, where children were taken from their families, culture, and language, continues to leave a lasting impact on generations. The Métis are often described as the « forgotten people » in this history, especially when it comes to the residential school experience.
On this day, we honour the survivors, remember those who never returned home, and recognize the strength and resilience of our ancestors who faced immense hardship.
This day is not only about remembrance, but also about our shared responsibility to move forward with truth, justice, ano renewal. For the Métis People, reconciliation must be rooted in meaningful actions that restore what was taken.
As we unite in solidarity, we must also dedicate ourselves to learning, listening, and taking meaningful action toward healing.( )
