A Western Tiger Swallowtail stopping for a snack on some purple vetch. 🦋

Sometimes the best wildlife moments are tiny ones — no hiking deep into the bush, no big production, just slowing down enough to notice what’s already happening right beside you.

Nature is always busy if you actually stop and look.

🐻 Came across this bear while exploring today.

It was a hot day, and this guy was cooling off in the water and enjoying a little bath. I kept my distance and watched for a few minutes before continuing on.

Nature always has a surprise waiting around the next corner.

Little baby fish, and mom enjoying the beautiful sunny day at Vaseux Lake.
We also got to witness a small brown bear having a bath. I will upload that video shortly. What a beautiful place with a well-maintained Boardwalk and a big tower at the end you can go up and overlook the lake and see all the birds and some bees.

Cold Morning Bumblebee Rescue

Found this little bumblebee sitting cold and still on the seat of my van after a chilly 6°C night. At first she barely moved, but after warming up for a bit she started buzzing again. I brought her outside, let her sit on my finger in the fresh air, and filmed her waking back up.

Tiny rescue mission, zero cost, big reward. Sometimes nature just needs a warm hand and a minute. 🐝🌿

🦌 Buckwheat the deer couldn’t stop watching Frizzy and Tigger last night.

He kept walking closer, stopping, staring, backing up, then trying again.

Four minutes of pure curiosity between a deer and two feral cats😻

💜🌿 Silky Lupine hanging on through a very dry spring here in the Okanagan.

Normally this whole area of the farm is covered in lupines, but this year there are only a few scattered plants left flowering. We’ve gone nearly a month with almost no real rain, and many wildflowers are already drying up early.

I left a few of these untouched to show how stressed the plants are becoming, while some of the flowers closer to the cat house that have been getting watered are still thriving and attracting bumblebees every day. 🐝

Amazing how quickly nature responds to even a little moisture.

Hoping we get some real rain soon. The valley is getting thirsty.

Went for a hike up Angel Springs trail in Kelowna. About halfway up there is a seasonal wetland. Usually you can hear the sound of frogs croaking away maybe see a deer or moose. This year May 5, 2026 the entire wetland usually under 1 foot of water is dry. A few little muddy spots in the corner. I saw a couple snakes. Very sad sight to see.
If you wanna go for a hike up there, send me a message and I can take you for a hike.

Found this little guy outside on ground. It got to cold for him to fly.
Brought him in, warmed him up and off he went back to the hives

Went for a hike yesterday, January 31 along the Mission Park Greenway.
We parked at the Ziprick road parking lot, crossed the bridge, and went upstream. Very nice 45 minute walk each way, a little muddy. I saw one group of people that was all.
