Hand games tonight 5:30!

Honestly, I am feeling incredibly grateful and humbled to be a part of bringing these opportunities back to our community. 🧡

When we started our Handgames program, I wasn't sure what to expect, but seeing so many youth, families, and community members come together has been amazing. Each session seems to grow, and watching people learn, laugh, compete, and reconnect with one another through culture has been something really special.

There is something powerful about seeing our traditions being practiced and shared again. Hearing the drums, watching the games unfold, and seeing youth become interested in learning our cultural teachings reminds me why these programs are so important. Every person who comes out helps keep our culture alive for future generations.

I feel very fortunate to be able to do this work for my community and to learn alongside everyone who attends. Thank you to everyone who has supported these events, participated, shared knowledge, and encouraged others to come out. Your involvement is what makes these gatherings successful.

We're excited to continue building momentum as we prepare for our Handgames Tournament this July!

What a day! 🏀❤️ That’s a wrap on our very first basketball tournament, and I just want to say thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen and to everyone who travelled out to play and support.

Seeing the gym full, meeting new people, watching everyone compete, laugh, and come together made all the hard work worth it. It was such a great success and I’m so grateful to everyone who had a part in making today possible.

Our last few bannock-making workshops have been so much fun! 🫓🤎

It has been amazing seeing community members come together to laugh, learn, share stories, and make bannock for our Elders. The atmosphere has been so welcoming, and it’s been great watching everyone connect while learning traditional skills together.

We’re excited to continue the workshops in June and hope to see even more people come out and join us!

Another very successful event! 🧡

Thank you again to everyone who came out to help, learn, and spend time together at our bannock making workshop. It was so great to see community members coming together, sharing laughs, stories, and learning new skills. I’m sure our Elders will be happy tomorrow morning when I deliver the fresh bannock! 🫶

Our next session will be held on May 27, where Lesley will be sharing her super awesome bannock pizza recipe 🍕✨ Make sure to come out and learn with us!

If you would like some bannock to take home, please let Kim know and she will add you to the list.

Huge thank you to everyone who came out to our first Hand Games night! 🪶🎶

It was so good to see community members of all ages coming together, learning, laughing, singing, and reconnecting through culture and tradition. The energy in the room was amazing, and I truly think we’ve built a strong foundation to start something really special for our community. ❤️

Seeing youth interested, people helping one another learn, and everyone coming together made all the hard work worth it. I’m already excited for the next session and to continue growing this program together leading up to our tournament this summer!

A special thank you as well to our neighbouring community members who came out to support, share knowledge, and be part of the evening. Your support and presence means so much, and we’re grateful to be building these connections together. ✨

Nikihk, in partnership with Kelly Lake First Nation, is excited to bring back Handgames Nights at the Kelly Lake Community Center! 🙌

Join us on May 12 & May 21 from 5:30–8:00 PM to learn, practice, and reconnect with culture through traditional handgames.

🪶 The first few sessions will focus on learning the game and building skills as we prepare for an exciting Handgames Tournament this July!
