Akwe:Go is a program offered at the Kapuskasing Indian Friendship Centre (KIFC), which is funded by the Ontario Federation of Indigenous Friendship Centres (OFIFC)

Ages 7 - 12 years old
Exceptions may be made depending on the situation & Executive a

pproval. Example 1:
6-year-old Jane wants to attend Akwe:go would like to attend the program because her older brother or cousin John is attending, it may be possible that they can attend program together with the expectation that they respect other program attendees and program worker. Also with the expectation that he respects other program attendees and program worker. (Names not real clients- just used for examples)

🌿 CREE CAMP REMINDER — TOMORROW! 🌿

Hi everyone! Just a reminder that Cree Camp starts tomorrow! 😊
🍳 Breakfast: 8:30 AM at the Kapuskasing Indian Friendship Centre (KIFC)
🏠 Pick-up: 4:00 PM at KIFC

Weather Update: 🌧️ Due to the rain, there have been a few changes to our plans.
Instead of spending the evening at Clear Lake on Wednesday, we’ll be having a camp-out right here at the Centre, in the gymnasium.

WEDNESDAY EVENING will include:
🎬 A movie in the gymnasium
🔥 A fire outside the Centre- Marshmallows and smores
🌿 Camp-style activities and time together

⛺️ All land-based activities will still be held at the Lake.

**** Please dress accordingly for the weather and outdoor activities. We also ask that each child bring a change of dry clothes, just in case they get wet.

We’re looking forward to a fun day and evening with everyone! ❤️

Please make sure youth arrive on time for breakfast at 8:30 AM tomorrow!

⚠️ Akwego Families – Heat Warning ⚠️

Environment Canada has issued a Heat Warning for our area. Hot and humid conditions are expected until late Tuesday. As the heat persists poor air quality may also develop.

To help keep everyone safe:

☀️ Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

🧢 Wear lightweight clothing, a hat, and sunscreen.

🌳 Take frequent breaks in the shade or in air-conditioned spaces.

🚸 Keep children and Elders cool and check in on loved ones regularly.

🚗 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle.

💙 Watch for signs of heat illness such as dizziness, headache, nausea, extreme thirst, or unusual fatigue.
