All Voices Community Choir

All Voices Community Choir All Voices Community Choir is a non- auditioned, multi-generational community choir in Ottawa, Canada. The Junior Choir rehearse every Wednesday evening.

The All Voices Community Choir, formerly known as the Goulbourn Jubilee Singers, was founded in 1977, by enthusiastic, music-loving people from the Stittsville, Ontario area and welcomes anyone who enjoys singing. There are no auditions, and sight-reading ability is not required. We strive to learn good quality choral repertoire, and to perform it to the best of our abilities, but always having fu

n along the way! The Junior Youth Choir began in September 2000 to encourage interest and involvement in choral singing with the younger singers in our community. Their fine voices and energy have made them a welcome extension of the established adult choir. The choir typically performs two major concerts per year and will also sometimes do additional performances in the community. Our Junior Choir also participates in an annual school tour, which gives them a wonderful opportunity to share their skills with their peers. Over the years, the choir has enjoyed showcasing a variety of themes and productions, from classical to musical theatre to folk and pop. Recent concerts have included an all-Canadian folk show, music about colours, nature and environment, anti-bullying and inclusion, big screen little screen featuring music from movies and television, multi-cultural themes, and so much more. Children ages 8 to 16 who love to sing are welcome to join our Junior Choir, No audition is required, but the Director asks that the children be able to read, and that they have the personal focus and concentration skills to participate positively in a one-hour rehearsal. Membership in the junior choir requires a commitment to attend weekly rehearsals and to perform with the group. Our teen members (grade 7+) have the opportunity to stay on for an additional 30 min to work with the teen ensemble. Some of our teen members also have chosen to stay on and work with the adults, and we do have some older teens and young adults who enjoy participating in the teens along with the adults. Our family of choirs is very welcoming and open to offering many options to our singers. The Adult choir rehearses every Wednesday evening (September through May) at Glen Cairn United Church, 140 Abbeyhill Drive, Ottawa, ON K2L 1H5

Although we are grateful for the hospitality of the congregation for rehearsal space, we are not a church-affiliated choir. Youth / Teen : 5:45-6:45 ( teens grade 7+ stay on until 7:15)
Adults : 7:30-9:30

The choir is also a proud member of Choirs Ontario.

THIS JUST IN!

We have received the poster for our first concert in Tallinn, where we will be singing with the women's choir KEVAD ("Spring") at St. John's Church! Kevad performs a wide variety of classical and modern choral pieces, with a strong emphasis on Estonian choral music, and won first place in the women's chamber choir category at the 2023 World Choir Games in Gangneung, South Korea! We are looking forward to collaborating with them on June 30, 2026!

Have a listen to Kevad here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVj5t0Rs7ZU

It's not everyday that a choir receives a hearty endorsement from the Prime Minister of Canada! 🤯 Our director informed him of our upcoming European Tour, including our Canada Day performance at the NATO base in Riga, and we received a wonderful letter in response. We will do our utmost to make our country proud when we go on tour next month! 🍁🍁🍁

We are sad that he is stepping down as AD, but happy he will continue to be part of the AVCC family next season. Here is a selection of songs from the concert conducted by Frank....and he will be conducting again during our "Hey and Away We Ride" concert on June 13th! Founded in the fall of 1977 as the Goulbourn Jubilee Singers, the choir took on the new name, the All Voices Community Choir, to better reflect our more contemporary format. We are a diverse and inclusive community of three choirs: children (approximately 35) , teens (approximately 15) , and adults....

Our Strong and Free concerts this past weekend were a roaring success, if the audience reaction is any indication! We are still glowing from our performances, from the deeply moving "If I could sing you well" and "Ispichiwin" to the comedic "Black Fly" and "Squirrel" to the amazing harmonies of "Frozen" and "Un Canadien Errant". Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, and contributed to our success!

If you missed this concert, you will have one more chance to catch our all-Canadian programme before our trip to Europe! Join us on June 13th for our full European repertoire - stay tuned for details and ticket sales!
