Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the Survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home, and recognize the lasting impacts on First Nations, Inuit and Métis families and communities.

September 30 is also Orange Shirt Day, a day to affirm that Every Child Matters and to acknowledge the ongoing harmful impact of Canada’s residential school system.

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. Today, we encourage our community to take time to learn from Indigenous voices, reflect on the truths of Canada’s history, and consider the role each of us can play in advancing reconciliation.

Canadian innovation is moving—and GCXpo put it on full display. 🇨🇦

Yesterday, KNBA joined our partners at Area X.0 and Invest Ottawa for GCXpo 2026, bringing together innovators, industry leaders, and partners advancing the future of smart mobility.

A highlight was connecting with companies in the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) Smart Mobility Tent, including Four DRobotics Corp, Optii Corporation, Twinworks Solutions Inc., Balance Energy, and many others putting their technologies into action.

Our team was also there to share what KNBA has been working on, including how the OVIN Semiconductor Voucher Program is strengthening that connection by supporting collaboration between Ontario’s semiconductor and automotive technology sectors.

Thank you to our partners, participating companies, and everyone who stopped by to connect. GCXpo was another strong showcase of the technology, talent, and collaboration driving Canadian innovation forward.

Algonquin Week was a hit. 🎉

Algonquin College & KNBA collaborated, bringing industry leaders, alumni, educators and partners together for a week of incredible programming focused on strengthening connections between the College and Kanata North’s technology community.

Through Innovation Exchange and Alumni Exchange, conversations explored emerging workforce needs, industry collaboration, career pathways and the important role Algonquin College graduates play across Canada’s Largest Technology Park.

For KNBA, partnerships like this are critical to strengthening the connection between education and industry, helping our member companies connect with emerging talent, shape the skills needed for the future, and create more opportunities for students and graduates.

With hundreds of learners gaining experience with Kanata North employers through co-op and work-integrated learning, the week highlighted the value of continued collaboration between industry and education in building the talent and skills needed for Canada’s evolving landscape.

The Kanata North Business Association is pleased to welcome Alexandre Poulain, Associate Vice-President, Innovation, Partnerships and Entrepreneurship at uOttawa, to our Board of Directors.

Alexandre has built his career across scientific research, entrepreneurship and institutional leadership, with a particular focus on what happens after discovery: connecting researchers with the partners, expertise and pathways that can move promising ideas into the market and society.

That perspective is particularly relevant in Canada’s Largest Technology Park, where sophisticated R&D, technical talent and globally competitive companies exist at extraordinary scale.

As Alexandre puts it, he has worked on “both sides of the lab door” — first as a researcher seeking partners to move ideas forward, and later building the structures that make those connections possible.

His experience will bring an important perspective to the KNBA Board as we continue strengthening the connections between industry, academia, talent and commercialization across Kanata North.
