Rotary Club of Kanata

Rotary Club of Kanata The Rotary Club of Kanata was established in March 1999 and provides community and international support to many humanitarian endeavours.

Visit our website to see a full list of causes we support. We are a group of volunteer oriented people from all walks of life who enjoy all there is to appreciate about Kanata! We are the type of folks to like to 'pitch in' so to speak. If you are like us, then 'Take The Test' at http://www.LiveKanataLIVE.com and see if we are a good fit for you. We meet every other Wednesday at 7:30 AM via video

A big thank you to Amy for hosting our August social at her beautiful home today! We had a great turnout, perfect weather, and plenty of time to relax and catch up while the kids enjoyed the river.

Days like this remind us that Rotary is about friendship as much as service. Already looking forward to the next get-together!

At our last meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from our two Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) participants about their experiences in the program. It made the occasion especially meaningful that they are the children of two of our own members, Amy and Kefas!

Their enthusiasm, confidence, and reflections offered a wonderful reminder of the difference RYLA can make. By bringing young people together to develop their leadership skills, form new connections, and discover what they are capable of, the program invests in the people who will help shape our communities in the years ahead.

We were delighted to welcome them back and hear how much the experience meant to them. The future is in very good hands!

The ROK International Committee meets every other month for an international meal in Ottawa. This month we met at Kanzanjapanesegrill , a new Japanese BBQ restaurant in Kanata Central BIA. Food and vibes were fantastic as we discussed current international projects and made plans for projects we want to support over the next financial year.

10/10 recommend, great social place to share a meal. Fantastic to support local businesses while we discuss ways to help and connect at a deeper level!

For the past three years, Ruth Hawkins has led the Rotary Club of Kanata with kindness, strength, humour, and a deep commitment to service.

As Charles Berlinguette prepares to step into the role of President in July, we are taking a moment to thank Ruth for everything she has given to our club and to the wider Kanata community.

Her Rotary story began as an 18-year-old exchange student in Brazil, and years later came full circle as she stepped into club leadership, embraced the learning curve, and helped build a stronger, kinder, and more inclusive club.

Thank you, Ruth, for your service, your heart, and your steady leadership. We are grateful for you, and very glad you are not going too far.

A great morning at the Rotary Club of Kanata!

Today we were pleased to welcome our 2026 bursary recipients, Umaiza and Agustin, who joined us to share a bit about themselves and their plans for the future. Supporting local students is always a highlight for our club, and we look forward to seeing where their next steps take them.

Kefas also shared his reflections from the Rotary International Convention in Taipei, which left more than a few of us thinking we may need to start planning for next year’s convention in Barcelona.

And finally, congratulations to Dwight, who won Chase the Ace... to the surprise of absolutely no one. We’re not saying he has gamed the system… but we are paying attention. 👀

Congratulations to Umaiza and Agustin once again, and thank you to everyone who joined us this morning!
