Real change starts when communities come together with a shared purpose.

Across B.C., BIPOC communities continue to face systemic housing barriers that limit access, opportunity, and long-term stability.

These challenges affect real families who deserve the chance to build generational security through homeownership.

That’s why the 2026 British Columbia Stakeholders Summit on Housing & Construction is grounded in a powerful mission: to convene, empower, and mobilize stakeholders across all sectors to dismantle systemic housing barriers, accelerate BIPOC-led housing solutions, and achieve 70% BIPOC homeownership by 2035.

Join us as we push for transformative, community-driven change.

The housing crisis is no longer just a statistic — it’s a lived experience for thousands searching for stability, dignity, and a sense of belonging.

British Columbia needs an estimated 700,000 new homes by 2030, a gap that continues to drive costs upward and deepen long-standing inequities — especially for BIPOC communities who have been historically excluded from housing access and economic opportunity.

Behind every number is a family striving for security and households fighting for the chance to build generational stability through equitable housing.

UGTS is responding with action at the 2026 British Columbia Stakeholders Summit on Housing & Construction — taking place in March 2026.
This summit will bring together policymakers, builders, lenders, advocates, and community leaders to co-design solutions grounded in equity, belonging, inclusive communities, and BIPOC economic empowerment — solutions bold enough to meet the scale of the crisis.

We can’t afford to wait. Now is the moment to build the homes, the opportunities, and the future British Columbia deserves.

Housing isn’t just about shelter—it’s about dignity, stability, and generational power. For too long, BIPOC communities have faced systemic barriers to homeownership. This summit is our collective call to action.

Join us at the 2026 B.C. Stakeholders Summit on Housing & Construction — taking place in March 2026 – where we unveil the 2035 Vision for BIPOC Housing Ownership. This is a bold, strategic roadmap to transform housing equity across the nation. Together, we’ll explore and activate the five pillars of change:

1️⃣ Increase Affordable Housing Availability: We’re committed to expanding access to affordable homes in underrepresented communities—because everyone deserves a place to call home.

2️⃣ Equitable Access to CHIF Funding: We’ll spotlight pathways for BIPOC-led housing projects to receive fair and transparent funding through the Community Housing Investment Fund (CHIF), ensuring our builders and visionaries are empowered.

3️⃣ Strengthen Cross-Sector Collaboration: Real change happens when governments, financial institutions, and community organizations work hand-in-hand. Let’s build bridges that last.

4️⃣ Develop Long-Term Sustainable Solutions: We’re not just talking short-term fixes. We’re crafting housing strategies that promote economic resilience and social sustainability for generations to come.

5️⃣ Advocate for Inclusive Housing Policies: We’ll confront the policies that perpetuate disparities and push for inclusive reforms that reflect the lived realities of BIPOC families.

This summit is more than a gathering—it’s a movement. A space to dream, strategize, and mobilize. Whether you're a policymaker, builder, activist, or neighbour, your voice belongs in this conversation.

Housing is more than policy — it’s the foundation of every dream, every family, every future.

Across British Columbia, the promise of a safe and stable home is slipping further out of reach, especially for communities who have waited the longest for equity, dignity, and the chance to belong.

For Indigenous, Black, newcomer, and underserved families, the housing crisis isn’t a headline — it’s a daily reality shaped by generations of exclusion, limited economic opportunity, and barriers that continue to undermine economic empowerment.

Canada has made a bold commitment: housing as a right for all.
Now we must decide whether we will rise to meet that promise.

UGTS is convening changemakers at The 2026 B.C. Stakeholders Summit on Housing & Construction — taking place in March 2026.
This summit brings policymakers, builders, lenders, advocates, and community leaders together to confront inequities in our housing system and co-create solutions rooted in belonging and truly inclusive communities.

Because building houses is not enough — we must build fairness, access, and a province where everyone has a place to call home. If you believe in a future grounded in dignity, equity, and shared power, this is your moment.

Housing is more than a market — it is stability, dignity, and the promise of a future.

Yet across British Columbia, too many families are being pushed out of that promise.

In Vancouver, Black, Arab, and Latin American communities face the lowest homeownership rates. Nationally, Black Canadians own homes at rates 19% lower than White Canadians.

These are not just statistics.
These are families fighting to stay housed.

Parents sacrificing stability.
Communities carrying generations of inequity.

And we refuse to accept this as our reality.

The 2026 B.C. Stakeholders Summit on Housing & Construction — taking place in March 2026 is bringing together voices from across communities to confront these inequities head-on — to build fair, inclusive, and sustainable housing solutions that uplift every family.

UGTS is committed to solutions rooted in equity, dignity, and community-led leadership.

Building an inclusive housing future is not just about the homes we create — it’s about who gets the chance to build them.

Across British Columbia, BIPOC-owned construction firms remain severely underrepresented in major housing contracts.

And when whole communities are excluded from the very industry shaping their neighbourhoods, we do more than limit economic opportunity — we limit the futures those communities can build for themselves.

UGTS believes that equity in housing must also mean equity in who designs it, who builds it, and who truly benefits from its growth. Because a just housing system cannot exist if the pathways to participate remain closed to so many.

The 2026 B.C. Stakeholders Summit on Housing & Construction — taking place in March 2026 is opening those pathways. By bringing together leaders, builders, and communities, we are creating space for BIPOC businesses and professionals to take their rightful place at the center of Canada’s housing future — not on the margins of it.

🏠 Let’s build homes, opportunities, and a stronger Canada — together.

Across British Columbia, the meaning of “home” is slipping out of reach for too many.

For newcomers, nearly 6 in 10 are fighting just to keep up with rising rents.

For Indigenous communities — who make up only 6% of the province — the reality that they represent 40% of the homeless population is a devastating reminder of ongoing systemic inequities.

These numbers hold stories:
Stories of parents trying to create stability.
Stories of youth navigating generations of displacement.
Stories of communities working tirelessly to be seen, heard, and housed.

At the 2026 B.C. Stakeholders Summit on Housing & Construction — taking place in March 2026, we’re gathering the voices that too often go unheard. We’re bringing together the people closest to the crisis, and the people with the power to reshape it, to build solutions that honour dignity, restore trust, and create real pathways to belonging.

UGTS is committed to a housing system where BIPOC economic empowerment is not an aspiration but a foundational principle.

Because a home is not a privilege.
It is a human right.
And every community deserves the chance to stand on solid ground.
