Hello DK community, Starting in September Graham will be moving on to next steps, and will be finished at KIS. "KIS Has given me so much and I have enjoyed working here. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all our staff and board of directors, past and present. This includes a special mention of our former Executive Director Paul Lagacé, who saw potential in me 7 years ago, provided support, and let me stretch out and re-invent this role. I think some of the goals and needs that were apparent then have made some good progress now, though the work is never done." This page, along with the Diversity role at Kamloops Immigrant Services will be inherited by Paolo Bigit.

"I would also like to thank all the wonderful people who have been collaborators and colleagues over the years. If you need to get in touch with me by other means than facebook, please contact [email protected] and Sue will put us in touch. You can also find my personal profile on Facebook by just searching my name."

This should be interesting. If a person needs to make a human rights complaint, they are likely to need to contact -all three- of these organizations. When would I make a complaint to BC, rather than to Canada? When my complaint (think of it a a 'report' of an abuse or transgression against you or someone close to you, based on on of the 13 HR grounds (reasons). If I register a complaint with the BC HRT, that means the problem is coming from a provincial organization (related to health care, education, employment, etc.) If the HR abuse is coming from someone in a national organization (federal gov't, RCMP, etc.) then I would instead file my complaint with the CANADA Human Rights Commission. (But the BC team can certainly take your call and steer you in the right direction)

How does B.C.'s human rights system support your rights? For the first time, BC's Office of the Human Rights Commissioner, the BC Human Rights Tribunal and BC Human Rights Clinic will come together for an online discussion. Learn about the different organizations in B.C.'s human rights system and join us for the launch of our new human rights video on August 18 at 12:30 p.m. PDT. https://bchumanrights.ca/event/bc-human-rights-system/
