TRU Philosophy, History, and Politics Conference

A three day undergraduate conference at Thompson Rivers University.

Now in it's 15th year, the annual conference includes student presentations, two keynote addresses, a wine and cheese event and a banquet on Saturday evening. This is the place to get the quickest updates about any of our upcoming events as well as an easy way to have your questions answered concerning anything involved with the conference.

Hello everyone!

The 2024 PHP Conference begins TOMORROW! Join us for two days of exciting presentations from a line up of exceptional undergraduate presenters, a plenary session, and external and internal keynotes! The PHP Conference Banquet is on Saturday, January 20, and will be held in the Terrance Room in the Campus Activity Centre. Doors open at 6:00 pm, dinner will be served at 7:00 pm, and our internal keynote speaker will present at 8:00 pm. There will be music and dancing from 9-12 so we hope you’re ready to party! 💃

Hello everyone!

With the conference just around the corner, the annual PHP Conference Banquet tickets are on sale!

The banquet will be hosted at the Terrace Room in the Campus Activity Centre this year. Your ticket will include a buffet dinner and a seat during our external keynote address. This year, our external keynote is Ardith Walkhem, the first Indigenous woman to become a Supreme Court judge.

Doors open: 6 pm
Dinner: 7 pm.
Keynote address: 8 pm.
Music + Dancing 9pm-12am.
The dress code for this event is semi casual.

Please specify on your order form whether you have any dietary restrictions.

Tickets are $45 for students/instructors.

We kindly ask tenure/tenure track professors to pay $55 to help support our events now and in the future.

The deadline to submit an abstract for the upcoming PHP Conference has been extended to December 8, 2023!

If you are interested in presenting, send a clear and concise outline on the research you would like to present within the disciplines of philosophy, history, and politics.

Abstracts should be a maximum of 200 words.

Hello, my name is Jonah Hector (he/him) I am a fourth-year student at TRU pursuing a joint major in Economics and Political Science and a minor in Sociology. This is my first year on the committee as the events and fundraising coordinator. I plan to become an elementary teacher after post-secondary. I'm excited to get the full PHP Conference experience!

Hello Everyone!

As many of you know, our annual Beer Conference is TONIGHT at Red Collar Brewery from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

This year, there will be a silent auction at our Beer Conference, featuring generous donations from Save on Foods, Planet Fitness, Far + Wide, Kuzina Messer Culinaire, Electric Love, and The Vic Downtown!

We are beyond grateful for this incredible community support. This conference would not be able to continue without the generosity of our community, both within and outside of the university.
