In Canada, June is PTSD Awareness Month. Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder that can occur after a person has experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, causing intense fear, helplessness, or horror. While PTSD can affect anyone, military personnel, emergency personnel, rescue workers, first responders, journalists, and families of victims are at higher risk.

The Legion offers a variety of Peer Support Programs for Veterans and their families. The Legion can also refer Veterans and their families to a number of organizations with programs offering supports and services. On May 29, 1926, the first Legion badge, said to be made from Manitoba gold, was presented to the Governor General, Lord Byng of Vimy. Its design has remained largely unchanged, becoming a lasting symbol of the Legion’s identity and commitment to Veterans, Remembrance, and community service.

June is almost here, and so is Bluegrass At The Legion - on June 2! It is moved to the first Tuesday in June. The Bunchgrass Boys just returned from a little road trip to Lillooet and Ashcroft, filled with music, photographs and good people. Always good to be "back home" at the Legion though, and we hope you can make it out on June 2 to enjoy a little pickin' and grinnin' !
