☕🧁 Only a few days left to get your tickets for our 2nd Annual High Tea for Change!

Join us this June for an inspiring afternoon of conversation, connection, and action as we explore this year's theme: "Rewriting the System: Women, Workplaces & Wellness."

We are honoured to welcome Kathleen Larose, Executive Director of the Interior Women's Centre Society and Founder of the Canadian Association of Women's Centre Societies. Kathleen will share insights from the PACC Mapping Project, conducted in partnership with the UBC Faculty of Medicine and the Thompson-Nicola Primary Care Division, highlighting key gaps and opportunities in women's healthcare across our region.

Drawing on her anthropological and systems-focused perspective, Kathleen will also explore how women's equity is shaped by healthcare access, workplace culture, leadership structures, and community support systems—and what meaningful change can look like.

Think beautiful lakeside views, an elegant lunch, tea (or bubbles 🥂), inspiring conversation, raffle prizes, and feminist swag you won't want to miss.

Every dollar raised supports the work of the Interior Women's Centre Society and helps advance women's equity across BC's Interior.

✨ Allies, friends, and community partners are all welcome.

Today is Menstrual Hygiene Day, a global initiative dedicated to breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation and advancing awareness of women’s and girls’ health.

Lack of access to period products can mean missed school days, feelings of embarrassment, and unnecessary stress over something that is completely natural. Everyone deserves access to the products, education, and support they need to manage their period with confidence, dignity, and without stigma.

At the Interior Women’s Centre, we are committed to supporting menstrual health education and advocacy in our community. In celebration of womanhood, we are partnering with local organizations to provide free period education initiatives, increase access to informed menstrual health resources in schools, and launch Period Resources and HER First Period Boxes through our website this fall.

Menstruation should never be a source of shame, it should be understood, supported, and normalized.

Happy Menstrual Hygiene Day.
Break the stigma 🩸

SAVE THE DATE: Join us this June for our 2nd Annual High Tea for Change 🧁☕✨

This year, we are bringing together community members, advocates, and thought leaders to explore the systems-level changes needed to ensure equitable access to care across British Columbia, with a focus on women’s healthcare in the Thompson-Nicola Region.

We are honoured to feature Kathleen Larose, who will share key insights from the Maternity PACC Mapping Project we conducted in partnership with UBC Faculty of Medicine and the Thompson Nicola Primary Care Division - highlighting gaps, opportunities, and real pathways toward more accessible, inclusive care.

You will also hear from two incredible guest speakers:
🔹 Kelli Paddon – offering a powerful perspective on equity in policy and how we can advocate for better change when it comes to gendered equality.

🔹 Dr. Marisa Azad – sharing her lived experience as a woman leader navigating and working in STEM, and speaking to internal system change that need to be addressed when looking at workplace equality in Healthcare.

Together, we will connect the dots between healthcare transformation and the workplace changes needed to truly advance equity, especially in traditionally male-dominated industries.

But this is not only a conversation, it is an experience.

This year, we are bringing together community members, advocates, and thought leaders to explore the systems-level changes needed to ensure equitable access to care across British Columbia, with a focus on women’s healthcare in the Thompson-Nicola Region.

We are honoured to welcome keynote speaker Dr. Marisa Azad, Assistant Professor and Associate Scientist at the University of Ottawa and Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. Dr. Azad leads Canada’s first Periprosthetic Joint Infection (PJI) clinic and laboratory and is at the forefront of groundbreaking research in rapid diagnostics, therapeutics, antimicrobial peptides, and bacteriophage therapy for osteoarticular infections.

Beyond her scientific leadership, Dr. Azad is deeply passionate about advancing equity for women in STEM and creating safer, more inclusive workplaces across Canada. Her keynote, “Women in Male-Dominated STEM: Challenges and Ways Forward,” will explore the realities many women continue to face in STEM fields, including bias, isolation, and systemic barriers, while also highlighting practical strategies for protection, advocacy, and change.
Together, we will discuss:
• Common challenges women face in male-dominated STEM environments
• Practical ways women can protect themselves through documentation, formal reporting channels, and supportive networks
• How workplace culture and policy can evolve to create safer, fairer, and more equitable environments for women in STEM across Canada
Think: a beautiful afternoon by the lake, an elegant lunch, tea (or bubbles 🥂), and a room full of inspiring people. Expect meaningful dialogue, great company, a little indulgence, and a few surprises, including a raffle and feminist swag you will not want to miss.
