Beyond the uniform.

Yesterday’s interface fire in Westsyde hit close to home for some of our members.

These photos and videos were captured by an off-duty member from his own neighbourhood — an area he knows well, and a reminder of the value that comes from our members who live, work, and play in the communities we serve.

Our connection to Kamloops goes well beyond the firehall. These are the neighbourhoods we live in, raise our families in and call home.

Proud of the crews working the fireline, our relationships with partner agencies, and proud of the members who make up Local 913.

Our Local 913 Executive is in Arlington, Texas this week for the 58th IAFF Convention, joining firefighters and union leaders from across Canada and the United States. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

Held every two years, the IAFF Convention is where delegates debate and vote on resolutions and constitutional changes that help shape the future of our profession and our union.

This week, our Executive is there to represent the voice of Local 913, learn from other Locals, and take part in decisions affecting firefighter priorities, member representation, workplace protections and the future direction of the IAFF.

So, what does our Union do?

Behind the scenes, Local 913 works year-round to advocate for our members — protecting our collective agreement, supporting members through workplace issues, advocating for fair and safe working conditions, and ensuring our members have a strong voice at the table.

Being part of the IAFF also means that voice extends well beyond Kamloops. Events like Convention allow us to learn from, contribute to, and stand alongside firefighters across Canada and the United States.

Representing our members. Strengthening our Local. Building the future of our profession. 🔥

Yesterday, we honoured the life and service of Brother Andrew Torreggianni.

Andrew joined Kamloops Fire Rescue in 1966, beginning a 30-year career of service to our community. He rose through the ranks to Platoon Captain before retiring as an Assistant Chief in 1996.

Throughout his career, Andrew cared deeply for the people he served alongside and took great pride in representing the City of Kamloops.

Andrew passed away on September 24, 2025, from occupational cancer related to his years of service as a firefighter.

Today, we gather to remember a leader, a colleague, a friend, and a Brother.

Thank you for your service, Brother Torreggianni. Your legacy lives on in the fire service and the community you dedicated so much of your life to.

Rest easy, Brother.
