Field Trips
Throughout the year, but usually during the spring and fall, club members take part in a number of field trips which are guided by knowledgeable club members who know the area and are willing to explain the wonders of nature to the beginner. Participants are able to learn about birds, flowers, trees, mushrooms, rocks, etc. in the Kamloops area. Some of the favorite events are the Christmas Bird Count, Swan and Eagle count in January, May Bird Fest, and annual pilgrimage up Greenstone Mountain in July to track the wildflowers. Field trips are announced in the club newsletter, on Facebook and on the club’s infoline. Waiver forms must be signed by everyone who participates in field trips. When car-pooling, at trip-end, please offer the driver compensation for gas and wear-and-tear on the vehicle. Consider offering what you feel would be fair if you had been driving that vehicle and would be receiving the compensation.

KNC teamed up with Transition Kamloops to enter in the 6th annual Amazing Race To Inclusion event!

Thank you to the Speak Up Self-Advocacy Awareness - SUSA Society for putting this on and all the sponsors, volunteers, and partner organizations. It was incredibly informative to get to experience first hand how challenging it can be to navigate daily life in our City as a person with diverse abilities. Hopefully everyone that participated can carry forward some of that learning into creating a more accessible and inclusive community.

Team Trees 🌳 consisted of Gisela Ruckert, Julien Langlois, Jesse Ritcey, and Nancy Flood.

What's your favourite bee? Is it a bumble with a rumble or a sweetheart of a honey? Today is World Bee Day and the Native Bee Society of BC is inviting everyone to vote for their favourite bee.
Five B.C. bee watchers, including the KNC's own Elaine Sedgman, have put forward their favourite B.C. bee as a sweet way to raise money for the B.C. Bee Atlas (yes, that is a thing). Voting opens tonight at 7 p.m. and runs until June 28, so you have lots of time to support your favourite pollinator.

Join us to celebrate the progress of the BC Bee Atlas, and learn about the candidates for BC's Favourite Bee.
