Today marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We acknowledge the hardships and impact of residential schools on our local Indigenous people and beyond. Through gestures of allyship and support, we hope to work together to heal generational wounds. We encourage you to wear your orange shirts today to show support for Indigenous people who have and still feel the negative impacts of residential schools in Canada.

🌟 Program Spotlight 🌟

Safe Spaces is a Kamloops-based 2SLGBTQIAP+ program designed to support youth ages 12-26 and their allies. It’s a place to connect, celebrate, receive education, and honour oneself.

As part of Safe Spaces, youth can access drop-in sessions and individual appointments, twice-weekly peer group meetings, email outreach support, educational resources, lending libraries, and other referral services.

KSACC will be offering 2 in-person support groups starting in the spring to folks who are currently on the waitlist for counselling services!

Survivor Support Group

Dates: every Tuesday morning from April 30-June 18
Time: 10:00 am – 11:30 am
Topics: may shift based on group interest but can include things like: violence, abuse and safety, understanding trauma, understanding emotions and self-compassion, assertive communication, self-care, boundaries, grief, post-traumatic growth

Mindfulness Self-Compassion Group

Dates: every Thursday afternoon from May 2-June 27
Time: 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Topics: Self-compassion and self-compassion practices, handling difficult emotions, loving-kindness meditation, self-compassion in caregiving situations, transforming challenging relationships, motivating yourself with kindness rather than criticism, enjoying your life more fully
Additional Notes: There is childcare available for this group. Please let us know when you are registering if you need childcare.

Our Women’s Housing Support Program:
- Assists women to maintain or become stable in their housing situation.
- Provides support for the development of life and self-advocacy skills. Connects women with community resources and one-on-one support specific to each individual.
- Hosts groups information sessions focused on issues related to housing tenancy, life skills, health or finances.
