We’re excited to share the incredible new murals at the Community Food Centre. Recently completed, the four murals have brought new colour, energy, and meaning to our community hall, adding to the warm and welcoming space.

The four murals celebrate the centre’s commitment to food access, food skills, gardening, and advocacy. Using abstract imagery, each mural tells a story of connection, resilience, belonging, and the shared purpose that brings our community together every day.

We hope they spark conversation, invite reflection, and offer another reminder of the creativity, strength, and connection that exist within our community.

A heartfelt thank you to the City of Kamloops for supporting this project through the Community Art Grant, and to local artist Shay Paul for guiding the vision and helping bring it to life.

Last week, the CFC was invited to join our friends at Kamloops Regional Farmers' Market on Midday to talk about the importance of supporting local and getting involved in the programs that make a difference in our community.

The KRFM is such an incredible community collaborator, working with so many local nonprofits and we’re proud to be one of them.

From local food to local organizations, there are so many ways to connect, contribute, and make a difference right here at home.

Your Voice. Your Community. Your CFC.

The Annual Program Survey is back, and this September, we want to hear from you.

The CFC is a place shaped by the people who walk through our doors. Your experiences, ideas, and feedback help us understand what’s working, what matters most, and what you want to see in your community.

Throughout September, we’ll be inviting program participants to share their thoughts through a short, anonymous 15-minute survey.

We would like to know; what impact are our programs having; what matters most to you and your community; what would you like to see more of at the CFC; and how can we continue to respond to what our community needs.

We’re excited to have these conversations and listen to what you have to say. Your feedback will help guide future program directions and will contribute to our annual Impact Statement, sharing the story of what we’re accomplishing together.

Because the best way to build a community centre is to listen to the community. Thank you for helping us grow, learn, and move forward together.

The CFC was incredibly grateful to welcome the team from KPMG who alongside our partners United Way BC - Thompson Nicola Cariboo spent the day volunteering for a community meal. From chopping and prepping to cooking and getting everything ready to serve, they were happy to jump in wherever they were needed.

Their time, effort, and enthusiasm made a real difference; supporting our community and helping create a space where people can enjoy good food and good company.

Thank you to everyone from KMPG and UW for being part of the day.

Seed Cleaning Day: September 15, 9-2 pm

Join us at the CFC, in collaboration with FarmFolk CityFolk, for a hands-on day of learning, sharing, and seed cleaning. Whether you’re an experienced grower, a backyard gardener, or simply curious about where our food comes from, this is a fun opportunity to get involved and learn more about the seeds and plants growing right here in our community.

We’ll be processing seeds harvested from the CFC’s Learning Garden and exploring the tools and equipment used for seed saving and cleaning, including the mobile seed cleaning trailer, a winnower, and seed-cleaning screens

This free event is open to everyone, including farmers, growers, gardeners, and anyone curious about seed production or seed saving.

Today’s market is extra special thanks to the power of community support.

The Kamloops Food Bank has generously shared a recent donation of eggs with the CFC. Stop by the Market today and pick up some fresh, nutritious produce and one dozen eggs from 10-2 pm, while supplies last.

This is what community looks like; organizations sharing resources, neighbours supporting neighbours, and working together to make sure good food reaches more people.

With this beautiful weather comes beautiful food.

A huge thank you to Rob and our friends at KRCC for another incredibly generous donation. We’re so grateful to be the recipients of this ongoing community support.

These donations will be put to good use in our future community meals, helping us serve hundreds of nourishing meals to community members each week.

It’s support like this that shows what’s possible when neighbours, organizations, and community partners come together. Thank you for helping make our community stronger, healthier, and more connected.
