- 50 community engagement events hosted
- 91% of visitors to the CFC in 2025 reported it as an important source of healthy food

- And of course... they run the YKA Hot Chocolate Festival!

Hello hot chocolate lovers!

As we count down to the next festival (only 9 months away… 👀), we’re excited to start sharing more about the CFC; the non-profit organization behind it all.

Each month, we’ll highlight news, programs, and events that reflect the heart of what we do.

Today, we’re focusing on an important topic: food security. Food security isn’t just about having enough to eat. It’s about access to fresh, healthy, and culturally appropriate food that truly nourishes the body. It’s about connection: to our communities, our traditions, and a deeper understanding of nutrition and balance.

At Mount Paul CFC, one of the ways we support health and connection is through our Community Meal Program, offered every Monday and Thursday from 12–1 pm. No registration required: just good food, welcoming faces, and meaningful connections.

We are pleased to share the results of this year’s YKA Hot Chocolate Festival.

With the support of 18 participating vendors, a total of 5,826 hot chocolates were sold, raising $9,345 in support of Mount Paul Community Food Centre.

This represents a significant increase from last year’s total, more than doubling the impact of the event.

We extend our sincere thanks to all vendors, volunteers, and community members who contributed to the success of this initiative.

We're having a meltdown now that Mary Ann's Macarons "The Meltdown" is no longer available. That classic combination of peanut butter and chocolate done to perfection sashayed its way into third place in 2026. Congratulations again.

Don't fret, if you need a sweet treat, the macarons here are heavenly.

As always, we're blown away by the incredible work each of our participating vendors put into their hand crafted hot chocolates throughout the festival.

It was our great pleasure to deliver the Silver award for 2026 to Romeo and Narain at The Manila Social last week. They had so much fun with their "Flaming Hot Chocolate" that they've added it to their brunch menu!

We can't wait to see what they come up with next year!

Congratulations again to Logjam Coffee! Not only did they come in first place for the 2nd year in a row, this amazing team (and others not in the photo) crafted and sold a whopping 574 cups of their Tropic Chocolate for a total donation of $1148.

They teasingly pointed out that they have room on their award shelf for next year's award and told us how much they enjoy the competition. With those smiles, we believe it.

We're waiting as patiently as we can for final hot chocolate sales and donation totals to roll in. Here's a sneak peek - we're still waiting on a few more vendors to report and we've ALREADY SURPASSED last year's fundraising total! Wooo hooo!!

For 2026, the YKA Hot Chocolate Festival added three new ways to engage with the festival - a colouring contest (thank you Drawn By Jewel for reaching out to us with your idea), a passport, and a bingo card. We loved hearing you share how you'd printed these and were following along - whether you submitted them or kept them to yourselves. :)

We drew randomly from the submissions and our contest winners are:
Colouring: Catherine, age 74
Passport: Amanda
Bingo: Peggy

Winners were emailed with instructions to pick up their prizes.

It's the final day of the YKA Hot Chocolate Festival! We're over 1700 votes (and counting) and winners will be announced tomorrow! Head back out for your favourite drink for a second (or third) try, or tick one more off the list before it's over for the year. Get your colouring contest, passports and bingo card entries in to us before the end of the day Monday, March 2nd.
