Community Bee Yard Donation Drive
Our community bee yard is taking shape! With fence posts installed and wire fencing now in place, we are moving into the next phase of development — gathering the equipment and supplies needed to fully establish and maintain this shared resource for local beekeepers.

To help reduce operating costs, we are inviting members, businesses, and supporters to donate new or gently used (“like new”) beekeeping equipment, woodenware, and other materials.

Hello Kamloops Beekeepers,
This coming Tuesday, September 15 at 1:00 PM, Stephan Pawloski, our Thompson-Cariboo Area Apiary Inspector, will be conducting hive inspections on the club's bees at the Kamloops Beekeepers bee yard.
If you would like to learn more about hive inspections and see firsthand what is involved, everyone is welcome to attend.
Location:�The club's bee yard is located approximately 6 km past the Sun Rivers roundabout on East Shuswap Road, on the right-hand side.
We hope to see you there!

We’re pleased to welcome Stephan Pawloski, Thompson‑Cariboo Area Apiary Inspector, as our guest speaker at the Kamloops Beekeepers Club General Meeting on Tuesday, September 15th.

“Your hive is alive in mid‑September; what should we do to keep it alive in March?”

This timely topic will guide beekeepers through late‑season management, fall preparation, and the critical steps that set colonies up for winter survival. Bring your questions and join us for an informative and practical session.

Yes we know it’s late for a swarm.

Hey lovers of honeybees, here’s an opportunity to help a poor citizen, boost public perceptions of our club, and get some more bees!
A swarm seems to have established in a plastic composter in Upper Sahali. The homeowner, Doug Brown, is wanting them relocated.
If you can do this for him, your reward will be a new colony of bees (possibly with some honey), and heaps of gratitude!
Phone 250-314-7474 for Doug. If you would like to talk to someone who has done this, you can call Rob Hunter 250-214-5474 (I’ll even give you some empty frames in which to place recovered comb).

The Kamloops Beekeepers Club is excited to announce that we have secured a new bee yard for club activities!
📅 Event Details
What: Field Day / Work Party – Setting Up a Bee Yard�When: Sunday, June 21, starting at 9:00 AM�Where: East Shuswap Road (see directions below)
🛠 What We’ll Be Doing
We’ll be working together to set up a bear-deterrent electric fence, including:
Installing posts
Attaching insulators
Running electric fence wire
This is a great opportunity for new beekeepers and anyone interested in learning how to properly set up a bee yard and protect hives from wildlife.
📍 Directions
From the roundabout at Sun Rivers:
Drive 6 km along East Shuswap Road
Turn left onto the gravel track in the hay field, just past the Healing Centre (currently under construction)
Park by the irrigation wheels on the bench above the river

Bag lunch
Plenty of water
A chair
