It’s FireCon week! 👏🏻👏🏻

What is FireCon?

For over 30 years, Emergency North Training (ENT) has delivered and continues to grow FireCon. Held annually each September in Thunder Bay, FireCon takes place at the Valhalla Hotel and Conference Centre, with off-site courses at the Thunder Bay Fire Training Centre. The event’s primary purpose is to provide extensive training for firefighters and emergency personnel!

We are very thankful for the opportunity FireCon gives our municipality’s emergency first responders and look forward to this amazing training event!

Good afternoon, Conmee!
We come bearing good news… you can finally enjoy your hotdogs over the fire and not boiled on the stove!

The fire ban will be lifted Thursday, August 20, at 12:00 am. This means you can enjoy your 3’ x 3’ x 3’ fires and celebrate the end of summer accordingly! Anything larger, please apply for a permit here:

https://www.conmee.com/p/burning-permits

As usual, we remind you to have a water source nearby should the need arise. Just because the ban is lifted, doesn’t mean the danger is gone!

Thank you!

Good evening, Conmee!
As you are all aware, we are in the middle of wildfire season. The dry spell mixed with high winds and extreme heat is a deadly combination. We don’t want you to panic, but we do want to be honest.. the conditions aren’t great and although Conmee currently doesn’t have any active fires, it very well could happen.

We recommend getting your 72 hour emergency kit ready, looking it over to make sure you have everything you’d need in case of an emergency. Keep your communication devices charged up, any flashlights, etc. Make a safety plan with your family to ensure everyone knows where to meet and how to keep safe should a situation arise.

Please don’t panic.. but please be prepared!

🚨 FIRE BAN IN EFFECT – TOWNSHIP OF CONMEE 🚨

Effective immediately, a Fire Ban is in effect throughout the Township of Conmee due to the extreme fire hazard.

The following are prohibited until further notice:
🔥 All open-air burning
🔥 Campfires and recreational fires
🔥 Fire pits, chimineas and outdoor fireplaces
🔥 Burn barrels and brush burning
🔥 Fireworks, sparklers and sky lanterns

All fire permits are suspended, and no new permits will be issued or honoured while the fire ban remains in effect.

With the current dry conditions, it only takes one spark to start a wildfire. Please help protect our residents, firefighters, forests, homes and wildlife by following the fire ban and avoiding activities that could create sparks.

If you see smoke or a wildfire, call 9-1-1 immediately.

Thank you for doing your part to keep the Township of Conmee safe.

One spark is all it takes. Help prevent wildfires. 🔥🌲

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering and serving your community.. now’s the time!

It’s very easy to look around and think someone else with more time and more expertise will step up, but the reality is.. your local fire team is made up of very busy individuals who have placed priority on being there when their community needs them most. They haven’t all come trained with all of the knowledge.. they’ve been taught, trained, and made ready for any incidents when they arise. We will do the same with you!

Step up… you’re needed now more than ever!
