After more than 20 years as a fixture in Manitoulin’s art scene, 4elements Living Arts will cease operations.
After issuing a call for new volunteers during the spring, we have made the difficult decision to bring 4elements to a close.
We are very proud of the impact 4elements Living Arts has had across Manitoulin Island over the years. The organization formed in response to the need for creative spaces for artists, art exhibitions and land-based arts programming on Manitoulin, and we hope its legacy will continue to inspire creative exploration of land and our relationship to it.
Thank you to the artists, educators, leaders, staff, volunteers and community members who contributed to 4elements Living Arts over these many years.
It is the end of something truly powerful – land, arts, community – coming together across Manitoulin in so many ways throughout our history. The Board of Directors will be making arrangements to donate remaining assets to other non-profit organizations that share 4e's mission and values.

This morning! Rain has stopped... come out to explore the sounds! Kids and families welcome!

Join children’s author Sahar Golshan for her fun and active workshop “So Loud! Stories from the Sounds from My Trip Outside”

Held in the outdoor River Bend Stage beside the Park Centre in Kagawong, Sahar will guide the participants in using the loud sounds they hear outside to creat stories of their own.

Meet at the Park Center at 10:30 to take part in this fun and free activity!

Learn to crochet a three-dimensional tree, drawing on the inspiration of the fertile ground along the Kagawong River trail. Gwen MacGregor will lead this workshop at the Kagawong Park Centre as part of NorthWords and 4e Elemental Festival, on Friday September 20, 1-4 pm guiding us to consider our relationship to the land and location. Come and explore using this simple but powerful mode of expression.
No experience is necessary – instruction and materials will be provided. This workshop is suitable for adults.

Come join artist farmer Jenn Mezei to build your own wild robot at 4e Elemental Festival and NorthWords! The story of The Wild Robot by Peter Brown is inspiring and helps us to ask questions around the juxtaposition of tech and nature. Each participant will be invited to create a robot head including upcycled cardboard and other found objects combined with nature bits we can collect in the woods together.
Open to folks of all ages & abilities. Children 10 & under are asked to participate with an adult. To pre-register (not required, but appreciated!) contact [email protected]

Join us at NorthWords and 4e Elemental Festival for this after-school workshop! Movers and makers of all ages are invited to join Jenn Mezei of Rainbow Farms North and Candice Irwin of Body Stories Dance on Friday September 20 from 4-5:30 pm in some dancing and art making inspired by flowers. Jenn will share knowledge about the symbiotic relationships between pollinators, plants and colour. Candice will invite us to reflect on the colours, shapes and textures of blooms and notice if any of these qualities impact our emotions.
Open to folks of all ages & abilities. Children 10 & under are asked to participate with an adult.
