Redirecting the Human Fate

Gaianomics was created out of a passion and love for the earth and the desire to stand up and do something about the absolute abuse of this planet and the disgusting amount of waste that we create in the process. Since mass production of plastics began in 1950 we have produced 8.3 billion metric tonnes of plastic and only 9% is recycled, scientists claim that by mid century our oceans will contain more plastic waste than fish. Every year trillions of gallons of raw sewage is dumped into lakes, rivers, and oceans. Americans constitute 5% of the world's population but consume 24% of the world's energy. Americans throw out 200,000 tons of edible food daily. Fifty percent of the wetlands, 90% of the northwestern old-growth forests, and 99% of the tall-grass prairie have been destroyed in the last 200 years. The global economy cannot grow indefinitely on a finite planet, as populations increase and economies expand, natural resources must be depleted; prices will rise, and humanity -- especially the poor and future generations at all income levels -- will suffer as a result.

The amount of evidence showing us that the human fate is destined for destruction became overwhelmingly clear, this is what drove us to create this Non-Profit Organization, our mission is to “redirect the human fate”. In order to achieve this end-goal of a regenerative global economy, we need to restructure our current economics into “Gaianomics”. This economic system would focus on the regenerative production, fair distribution, and proper consumption of the earths goods and services. There is more than enough land to feed everyone on the planet, we just need to stop wasting 40% of the vegetables that aren’t “customer worthy”, and we need to start supporting more local farms. We also need to develop more Recycling factories and more effective means of recycling what we currently do, which is only at 34%, Germany and Austria have the highest recycling rates of any country at about 63%.

We at Gaianomics live by the motto, “think globally, act locally”. That’s why we believe that it’s a global imperative for us all to think about the effect that our actions as a community are having on our local watershed and ultimately the planet at large. One of our goals here at Gaianomics is to educate people about what is happening in the world around us, and provide them with realistic at-home solutions to many of today's problems.
