We’re thrilled to welcome internationally acclaimed wildlife cinematographer, director, and Pender Harbour local Maxwel Hohn to the PODS Advisory Board! Born and raised in ḵalpilin (Pender Harbour), BC, Maxwel is an Emmy Award-winning cinematographer, director, and commercial diving veteran who has spent more than a decade filming wildlife and wild places in some of the most remote and challenging locations on Earth.
His work has taken him around the globe and onto screens including Netflix’s Island of the Sea Wolves, National Geographic’s Secrets of the Octopus, BBC, Apple TV, IMAX, and the Las Vegas Sphere. But it was growing up right here on the Sunshine Coast that helped shape Maxwel’s deep connection to the land, ocean, and wildlife.
His work connects storytelling, science, conservation, and community. Collaborating with scientists, First Nations communities, and government organizations, his work inspires curiosity about the natural world and explores how we can better coexist with the species in which we share it.
We’re incredibly grateful to have bringing his creativity, adventurous spirit, filmmaking expertise, and deep local connections to help shape the future of PODS.
Welcome to the team, Maxwel!
