Delta Good Times Band Tribute
Here is a deeply moving tribute to read tonight on behalf of Erin, the proud daughter of
the late, great Angus Alunik. These are her words for the legends we all love:
"As I look around tonight, my heart is completely full, but it also carries a deep ache. I
want to extend a profound, bittersweet thank you to the Delta Good Time Band for the
endless years of incredible music, unconditional love, and pure dedication they gave to
our community and every surrounding area.
Being the daughter of Angus Alunik was a gift, and it gave me a front-row seat to magic.
From the time I was just a young girl, I was blessed to travel alongside them to so many
beautiful communities. I grew up watching the world come alive through their songs,
staying up and enjoying the dances until the wee hours of the morning.
The peak of that joy was having them play at my wedding. To have my dad and the
band provide the music to the happiest day of my life is a gift I will carry in my soul
forever. The memories we made on that dance floor are sacred to me. The Delta Good
Time Band did so much more than just play instruments they brought people together.
They healed hearts, united communities, and ensured everyone had a grand time. The
joy they created will be remembered forever and always. Thank you, from the very
bottom of my shattered but grateful heart.
My daddy was the last remaining member of the band until his final days. He held onto
that music, and he held onto us. He was, without a doubt, the fastest, deadliest guitar
player I have ever known, or will ever know. When his fingers touched those strings,
time stood still.
To Daniel and Tye Tye: thank you. Thank you for standing by his side, for your loyalty,
and for keeping the band together with my dad through it all. Angus loved you both so
incredibly much. The three of you shared a beautiful, rare, and unbreakable bond born
of rhythm, brotherhood, and love. You were his family on and off the stage.
Our community will never be the same, but the music lives on in every memory. Rest in
peace, Delta Good Time Band. Play on in heaven, Dadd
On behalf of the Kasook families, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Charlie Kasook for his years of dedication, passion, and love for music.
Thank you, Dad, Brother, Uncle for bringing music, joy, and unforgettable memories to people throughout the ISR and beyond. Your music has touched so many hearts and brought communities together through the gift of song.
Your dedication and contribution to our music community will never be forgotten. ❤️🎶

A Tribute to the Delta Good Time Band
First, I want to say thank you. Thank you to everyone here for all the years of good
music, good memories, and good times. For me, the Delta Good Time Band was always
much more than just a band. I was incredibly blessed to play alongside three very
talented musicians, and three very special people in my life — my father, James Nuiluq
Rogers, Charlie Kasook, and Angus Alunik.
These three men created something truly special. Their music became a part of the
history and the very heart of the Mackenzie Delta.
After my father, James, passed away in 2016, and Charlie Kasook passed away in
2017, I wondered what would happen to the band. Uncle Angus was the last living
original member. Together, we made the choice to keep the Delta Good Time Band
going.
Later on, my son Tye was able to join us. That made it even more special for our family.
My dad had the opportunity to share the music with me, his son, while continuing
exactly what the original members had started.
And Uncle Angus he was so much more than just our guitar player. To both of us, he
was our mentor, our teacher, our backbone, and our family. He had a natural way of
making us sound good.
He taught me (Tye) so much. He freely shared his knowledge, his music, and his
incredible stories with both of us. When the three of us played together, you could just
feel that there was something special about it.
Then, in June of this year, we lost Uncle Angus. That loss broke our hearts. We didn't
just lose a great musician. We lost someone who meant the world to both of us.
After Uncle Angus passed, we sat down and talked about what should happen next to
the Delta Good Time Band. We both knew in our hearts that it was time.
We have decided that the Delta Good Time Band will officially retire with Uncle Angus,
my father James, and Charlie.
That is their legacy. It belongs completely to the original members who created it,
played the music, and gave so much of themselves to the people of the Delta and
beyond. James Rogers. Charlie Kasook. Angus Alunik.
We will always be proud of what they built. We will always carry the lessons and the
memories they gave us. We will absolutely continue making music together, but we will
never forget where that music came from, or the men who taught us.To everyone who danced to their music, listened to them play, sang along, and
supported the Delta Good Time Band over all those years thank you.
And to Marlo and everyone who put this beautiful tribute together, thank you for giving
us this opportunity to honour these three incredible men.
The Delta Good Time Band may have played its last song, but their music, their
memories, and their legacy will live on in all of us.
Thank you, Dad.
Thank you, Charlie.
Thank you, Uncle Angus.
