We wrapped up our 2026 Recruit Training Program over the past weekend!

We welcomed 8 new members to our roster and introduced them all to critical firefighting skills over two long weekends. Over the past 15 years, every new member of the IFD has begun their entry into the fire service through our introductory program.

All of our instructors are looking forward to continuing to work with the latest talented and skilled cohort as they begin their professional level training in 2027!

The Inuvik Mental Health Awareness Working Group hosted another amazing day recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation!

We’re proud to work with the RCMP, Canadian Forces, and so many others by focusing on our community’s youth.

Inuvik Fire will be participating in an emergency exercise at the Inuvik Mike Zubko Airport this morning.

Emergency vehicles may be visible travelling on Airport Road and working within the airport compound. Please exercise caution and vigilance should you encounter emergency traffic on the roads.

Our trained FireSmart Assessors have been busy this season! We have been working in partnership with Housing NWT to complete assessments in Inuvik, Tsiigehtchic, and Fort McPherson. Thank you to the Hamlets and Housing for working with us.

We’re extremely saddened to learn of the sudden passing of one of our former members, Kyle Mustard.

Kyle was a dedicated member of the Inuvik Fire Department during his years in Inuvik. His passion for public safety and community outreach extended beyond his amazing work with Parks Canada. Kyle will be missed by many many current and past members of the Department who were proud to call him their brother in service.

Last week Rick and Rhonda stopped by with their grandkids Austin and Everett to donate a bike helmet! We gave them a quick tour of the firehall and they even got a couple t-shirts for their donation.

Inuvik Protective Services has done our public duty and issued another positive ticket. The punishment: one small slushie!

This is Week Two of trying to get Google Maps to update Town of Inuvik Streetview 🗺️

We know they are travelling to Eagle Plains by September, and encourage them to continue their journey to the Arctic Ocean!
