2026 SPRING NIHTAK CULTURE CAMP
On-the-Land Camp for Youth Ages 8-18

many relatives will move forward with land and cultural knowledge

Starting on Tuesday, April 28th the Nihtat Gwich'in Council (NGC) in partnership with the Nihtat Renewable Resource Council will be offering 1/2 Day on-the-land opportunities for youth each Tuesday and Thursday afternoon for three weeks.

Children and Youth will learn, participate and watch demonstrations on traditional medicine & plant harvesting, bush & camp skills, animal tracking, fire making, trapping, fishing, & Gwich'in language practice. Knowledge Guardians & a Wildlife Monitor will be present each day.

The NGC Van will pick up registered participants in front of the school and bring them home after the day's activities.

Nihtat Gwich'in Council

For the month of December Nihtat Gwich'in Council (NGC) will be hosting a number of afternoons and workshops for Youth while also holding times for Elders and Community drop-in.

We will continue to hold our weekly Friday afternoons out at our heated tent with Smoked Tea & Stories with Elders and Youth, which is open to everyone.

NGC is also hosting a Holiday Gathering on Friday, December 19th from 2pm to 5pm. Food & Smoked Tea will be served. This is open to everyone. More information to be posted soon.
