🚨WE URGENTLY NEED DONATIONS🚨

Right now, the donations coming into the South Simcoe Pet Food Bank simply are not keeping up with the number of requests coming in for help.

At the time of posting, we currently have requests waiting for:
🐶 51 dogs
🐱 48 cats
🐰 1 rabbit
and additional requests are coming in every hour.

No family should have to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their beloved pet — but we cannot continue helping without the support of our community.

We are incredibly grateful to the amazing local businesses in Barrie, Innisfil, and Stroud that collect donations for us. If you are able to donate pet food, treats, litter, or supplies, donations can be dropped off at any of these locations:

🐾❤️ A Huge Thank You From South Simcoe Pet Food Bank ❤️🐾

The past few weeks have been incredibly challenging for our little pet food bank. Our shelves have been emptied again and again — but each time, our community stepped in to help make sure beloved pets in our area did not go hungry.

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing businesses, rescues, organizations, and individuals who have helped keep us going through donations, collection drives, sharing our posts, and supporting us however they could:

📢 While we are completely out of regular dog food at the moment, we still have a few specialized vet diets that we want to make sure get into the bellies who need it.

If you see something on the list below that your vet has previously prescribed for your animal, please send us a PRIVATE MESSAGE.

A huge THANK YOU to the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Barrie and District Animal Centre for coming to our rescue this past week and helping us be able to continue helping others! We couldn’t do it without community partners like you!

📢 Effective Immediately – Important Update for Barrie Pick-Ups

The South Simcoe Pet Food Bank is run by a very small team of dedicated volunteers working hard to help people continue feeding the pets they love during difficult times. To keep this service running smoothly and fairly for everyone, we need to make some important changes due to an ongoing increase in missed pick-ups and the significant time spent on repeated follow-ups.

Barrie pick-ups will now take place on Tuesdays and Fridays ONLY.

Order deadlines:
• Tuesday pick-up → orders must be placed by Monday at 8:00 PM
• Friday pick-up → orders must be placed by Thursday at 8:00 PM

Moving forward:
📌 Orders must be picked up on the scheduled day.
📌 Orders not picked up will be cancelled and a new request will need to be submitted. A new order will not be available until a week later.
📌 Volunteers will no longer be sending multiple reminders or follow-ups — it is the recipient’s responsibility to pick up their order as arranged.
📌 Multiple orders will be set out at once — please ensure you only take the order labeled with your name.
📌 Taking an order that does not belong to you may result in loss of future support.

We understand that life happens and we appreciate communication if challenges come up ahead of time. These changes are necessary to respect our volunteers’ time and ensure we can continue supporting as many pets and families as possible.

A lot of days, we look at the shelves and realize we’re right down to the last bags of kibble or can of wet food. And just when we’re wondering how we’ll keep going… our supporters show up — every single time — right in the nick of time.

It’s hard to put into words how overwhelmingly thankful we are. The South Simcoe Pet Food Bank depends entirely on donations, and it’s because of your generosity that we’re able to continue supporting pets and the people who love them when they need it most.

A huge THANK YOU to our Barrie pick up spot volunteer! In the first 20 days of December they have put out orders for 183 animals at their location alone.

The Barrie pickup spot is currently out of stock. They will be taking a well deserved Christmas break and CLOSED for the next week.

Our Alcona location remains open for order requests.
