June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada.

This month, we recognize and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, languages, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples who have shaped this land for generations.

National Indigenous History Month is an opportunity to learn, listen, and reflect on the stories, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous communities. It is also a time to acknowledge the importance of building relationships rooted in respect, understanding, and inclusion.

At Innisfail Pride, we believe that every person deserves to be seen, valued, and treated with dignity. We stand alongside Indigenous peoples in celebrating their cultures and contributions, and we encourage our community to take time this month to learn more about the Indigenous histories and communities that continue to enrich Canada today.

Pride Month is almost here.

This year, Pride feels especially important.

Across Alberta, throughout the United States, and around the world, we are seeing a rise in rhetoric, policies, and movements rooted in intolerance and division. Rights that were fought for through decades of courage, protest, advocacy, and sacrifice are once again being questioned, challenged, and targeted.

History has shown us something important: hard-won rights are never guaranteed forever when bigotry and fear are given the microphone.

But history has also shown us something else.

We have been through storms before, and we are still here.

The 2SLGBTQIA+ community has always found strength in one another.
In community. In visibility. In love. In refusing to disappear. And while the voices of hate may seem loud right now, they are not stronger than the collective power of people standing together.
We have a strong community here in Innisfail and beyond, with many allies standing beside us. Together, we will weather this storm, just as generations before us have done.
This Pride Month, let’s keep our voices loud.
Let’s support one another fiercely.
Let’s check in on our friends, uplift q***r joy, protect vulnerable members of our community, and continue creating spaces where everyone can belong safely and openly.

And let’s remember. We are not alone.

We have a strong community here in Innisfail and beyond, and we have many allies standing beside us. Together, we will weather this storm, just as generations before us have done.

Pride has always been more than a celebration.
It is resilience.
It is solidarity.
It is hope.

Happy Pride from all of us at Innisfail Pride.

On Monday, March 30, parents and advocates from across Alberta gathered at the Edmonton Legislature to stand together in recognition of Transgender Day of Visibility (March 31).

These are statements from some of those who showed up, voices rooted in care, courage, and community.

Now more than ever, it is crucial to show up for those whose voices are being silenced and whose rights are being challenged or taken away. Visibility is powerful, but action and solidarity are what create change.

We stand with you. We hear you. We will continue to show up. 🏳️‍⚧️

For the past 5 amazing years, Innisfail Pride has had the privilege of working in our community, hosting education sessions, dances, bingo nights, game nights, the annual Pride celebration and creating spaces where people could gather, learn, and celebrate together.

What started as a small group of dedicated individuals grew into something truly special. Over the years some volunteers moved on, new people joined, and together we built a community filled with support, connection, and pride.

Like many volunteer organizations, everything we do depends on the time and energy of volunteers. Recently, our current board has found it increasingly difficult to meet the time commitments needed to continue at the pace we have been.

Because of this, Innisfail Pride will be hitting the pause button for the next 6 months.

This is not a goodbye, and we are not dissolving the organization. This pause simply allows the volunteers who remain to focus on their families, businesses, and other commitments while we take some time to regroup.

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years: our volunteers, community members, partners, and allies. Your encouragement and involvement have meant everything to us. ❤

During this time, we hope some of you will consider joining us in the future so we can return refreshed, rebuild our team, and prepare for an exciting return in the fall of 2026 and 2027.

Thank you for being part of our journey.
This isn’t goodbye, just a pause.

🌈 With gratitude,
Innisfail Pride

Happy Pansexual & Panromantic Pride Day! 💛💗💙

Today, we are celebrating the folks whose attraction isn’t limited by gender. It's a reminder that love, connection, and humanity are beautifully expansive.

To our pan community: you belong, you’re seen, and you’re cherished here. Thank you for being part of what makes Innisfail brighter!

Today, on December 1st, we honour World AIDS Day.

It's a time to remember those we’ve lost, support those living with HIV, and stand with the global community working toward a future free from stigma.

Here at Innisfail Pride, we believe in compassion, education, and creating spaces where everyone feels safe to show up as themselves.

Let’s keep learning, keep supporting, and keep pushing for access to care and dignity for all. ❤️

After Transgender Day of Remembrance, we keep showing up.

Advocacy and allyship are daily work; it’s the way we speak, hire, teach, and care. Keep advocating, keep learning, and keep loving out loud. 🌈

🕯️ Today, we pause to honour those whose lives were lost to anti-transgender violence.

Transgender Day of Remembrance reminds us why advocacy, visibility, and love matter.

Say their names. Remember their stories. Commit to a world where trans lives are safe and celebrated.
