(Le français suit) Did you know? Canada’s forests shelter more than 400 species at risk, and each year they capture carbon equivalent to the emissions of 28 million cars.

From the air we breathe to the water we drink, forests support our everyday lives while providing habitat for countless species.

Protecting forests means protecting biodiversity, climate stability and the natural spaces that connect us all. 💚🌲

It may still feel like winter on this March Friday, but Ontario’s toughest residents are already stirring🐢❄️

Did you know spotted turtles are some of the most cold-tolerant turtle species in the province? They are the ultimate "ice-breakers," sometimes seen basking on logs right next to melting snowbanks!

Right now, in this "wintery spring" transition, they are beginning to stir from their deep winter slumber (called brumation). They aren't fully active yet, but they're waking up.

How you can help:
🚗 Watch the Roads: As the thaw begins, turtles may start moving toward sunny spots or nesting sites. Keep a close eye out, especially near wetlands.
🐢 Get involved: Check out ontarioturtle.ca for helpful resources and sign up to become an official "Turtle Taxi" driver this season.

Hang in there, spring is (slowly) coming!

Robins have begun to sing their song of spring! As the days get warmer and longer, you’ll start to hear their cheerful whistles throughout the daylight hours.

Did you know, although we associate robins with spring, they can actually overwinter on the moraine? As long as there are berries to eat, like sumacs and dogwoods, they’re willing to tough out the cold weather!
